Helping Hoosiers: As deadly flooding continues in central Indiana, claiming the lives of at least seven people, Radio One WLHK/Indianapolis has teamed with TV partners WXIN (Fox59) and WTTV (CBS4) to launch Help in the Heartland. WLHK PD Sean Copeland says, "We have a collective fundraising goal of $500,000 for local Red Cross efforts. On the 26th, we will do a 12-hour day of giving with broadcasts from multiple locations." Copeland also reports that all of his team members are safe, with none residing in the flood zone. Crosstown Cumulus WFMS has a list of resources linked on its home page where those affected by the floods can find resources and help.

In Bob We Trust: iHeartMedia has re-hired longtime former WPOC/Baltimore midday host Bob Delmont as evening host on WMZQ/Washington, DC and midday host on WPOC, effective today (8/17). Delmont left the company in a round of layoffs in June (CAT 6/25). Former WMZQ MD/evening host Corey Calhoun moved to sister WUBL/Atlanta that same month (CAT 6/16). Sister Top 40 WIHT afternooner Mike Klein added WPOC middays shortly after Delmont's departure (CAT 6/26). “Bob’s back!” says Region SVPP Jeff Kapugi. “He’s one of the best we have, and we are lucky to have him on our DC/Baltimore team!” Delmont originally joined WPOC in 1999.

Philpott Departs: Cumulus Appleton-Oshkosh, WI OM Jay Philpott has exited the five-station cluster, which includes Country WPKR. Formerly Cumulus Oldies WGVX/Minneapolis PD/on-air talent, Philpott re-joined the company in his most recent role in 2023 (CAT 5/4/23); his departure comes amid widespread Cumulus downsizing. Philpott's prior stops include Atlanta, Baltimore, St. Louis and Milwaukee. He shared in a Facebook post, "I like working in radio, and have for 50 years (this month!) ... I'll continue the job search, but not working anymore could be an option at this point in my life, too – but it's the last option." Reach him here.

Bennett Departs: Cumulus/Atlanta cluster Dir./Promotions Jake Bennett was also among those affected by the recent companywide staff cuts. His duties included WKHX. Bennett joined Cumulus four years ago as Coord./Promotions, rising to his most recent role in 2024. He shared in a LinkedIn post, "This doesn't take away from how proud I am of the incredible work I was fortunate to do. The events, promotions, partnerships and shows I helped bring to life are experiences that will always stick with me, and they've helped me grow more than I could've ever imagined." DiTomasso Departs: Cox WNGC/Athens, GA morning co-host Alyssa DiTomasso has departed for an as yet unspecified new role in which she is "partnering with an up-and-coming digital news platform to launch a series of on-camera feature journalism, in-depth video interviews, and independent digital storytelling," she shared in a social media post. DiTomasso joined WNGC from AC WSTR/Atlanta in January (CAT 1/5). No word on plans for the position.

So says newly elevated Mediabase President Alissa Pollack. As reported via Breaking News (8/17), Pollack continues as iHeartMedia President/Global Music Marketing alongside the elevated role at RCS Worldwide's Mediabase. With the company since 1997, Pollack calls Mediabase "the gold standard in music data" and also revealed the launch of publicly accessible charts, available here.

Taking Flyte: FlyteVu VP/Talent & Partnerships Ally Venable will depart the company Aug. 19 after three years, saying she plans to "enjoy more time with my family. I’m excited for whatever comes next, but grateful to take a beat and practice being present with my family and friends." Life Note: Em.Co's Jack Purcell was released from the hospital yesterday (8/16), three days after undergoing a kidney transplant. His niece and organ donor was released on Friday (8/14), and both are doing well, with Purcell reporting his "kidney function is already back in the normal range."
