Health, Wellness, and Fall Health Fair

This week, we are focusing on healthy living by highlighting departments, events, and services that can assist you in navigating your health. As always, if you have any immigration questions or concerns, please reach out to ISSS via email or make an appointment with your ISSS adviser online. Please know that your health and well-being are our top priority, and we are here to support you in any way we can.

Health Promotion Services

The Health Promotion Services Department (HPS) is committed to fostering a vibrant and safe learning community. HPS offers a full range of services dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of the USF student body.

Health Insurance - Students who are members on the USF-endorsed student health insurance through Aetna can phone or video chat with a doctor 24 hours a day using Teladoc, free of charge. Note that all USF students, regardless of insurance coverage, can use the student health clinics by scheduling an appointment online.
Urgent Care - HPS recommends visiting the GoHealth Urgent Care for non-life-threatening cases. Costs vary based on your health insurance plan benefits. Students should be able to know if they need urgent care or if it is an emergency. A cold, cough, and mild fever are some cases for urgent care, whereas chest pain, broken bones, and difficulty breathing are emergency cases. If it is an emergency, please call (415) 422-2911 (on campus) or 911 (off campus).
Appointments - You can schedule a Zoom appointment with an HPS staff member for questions regarding insurance, immunization, nutrition, wellness, and other health-related questions. Schedule your appointment online.
Educational Offerings - HPS is offering a new lineup of health and wellness events for you to participate in, including the Fall Health Fair. Learn more »

FALL HEALTH FAIR

Oct. 4, 12:30–3:30 p.m. | McClaren Conference Center

The Health Promotion Services are excited to invite you to their annual Fall Health Fair. This free event is designed to help students like you connect with health-related employers, get your flu shot, pet some flurry buddies, and learn about resources to keep your health up while taking advantage of free health screenings. Go Dons Get Fit Fitness Challnege Faculty/Staff vs Students

Go Dons Get Fit Challenge

Who is more active? Students or faculty and staff? Join October's seventh annual Go Dons Get Fit Challenge. Check out resources on how to register and start tracking your physical activity. At the end of the month, all minutes are accumulated and the winner receives the Cartwright Cup.

Jumpstart Your Wellness Challenge is facilitated by HPS for students to participate in monthly wellness challenges this fall semester and win weekly raffle prizes.

LWSC Open House

The LSWC is excited to invite you to the Learning, Writing, and Speaking Center's Open House on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held between the Gleeson Library Plaza and Welch Field. You will have the opportunity to explore the many academic support services that the LSWC and other departments offer.

Furthermore, you can participate in a raffle and enjoy some delicious pizza. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity! Learn more »

Change in Cafe International Meeting Hours

The meeting hours of Cafe International have shifted by half an hour on Fridays. Moving forward, it will take place from 3–4 p.m. on Oct. 6, Oct. 20, Nov. 3, and Nov. 17 at the Intercultural Center, UC 411/412.

ISSS OFFICE RESOURCES

Requesting a Document from ISSS?

If you are requesting an immigration document or letter from our office, remember that we request ten business days to process requests. Make sure you plan accordingly so you have enough time to receive your document before you need it. All ISSS requests should be submitted through the MyISSS student portal (click on requests on the left-hand menu). You can view our MyISSS Student Handbook for assistance with your submission.

Adviser Appointments and Workshops

Appointments can be made online. Please visit the ISSS website to schedule an appointment. Appointments are still booked in 15-minute increments. To schedule a workshop, select workshops from the first menu option in our scheduler. Students must complete an OPT workshop before applying for OPT.
