Call for Speaker Nominations
|
The Office of Intercultural Excellence is soliciting speaker nominations for the 2026 Vito Imbasciani, Ph.D., M.D.’85 and George DiSalvo LGBTQ Health Equity Lecture. This lectureship brings experts to the Larner College of Medicine whose work prepares future physicians to provide high‑quality, affirming care for LGBTQ+ populations. Members of the Larner College of Medicine community are invited to nominate providers, advocates, educators, and administrators who are champions for LGBTQ+ health equity by Sunday, March 15.

| Call for Proposals - 2026 Health Equity Summit
|
The 2026 Health Equity Summit is now accepting proposals for presentations, lectures, posters and workshops grounded in community-informed work and lived experience, alongside research and practice.
Proposals that highlight effective strategies, lessons learned, cross-sector partnerships and system-level approaches that improve community well-being and expand equitable access are especially encouraged.
The submission deadline is April 10.

The Herbert W. Nickens Faculty Fellowship recognizes an outstanding faculty member who has held the assistant professor position for no more than three years. The candidate must have demonstrated leadership in the United States in addressing inequities in medical education and health care; demonstrated efforts in addressing educational, societal, and health care needs of underserved populations; and is committed to a career in academic medicine. Confronting Violence: Improving Women’s Lives
|
Activists and reformers have long recognized the harms of domestic violence, but beginning in the late 1970s, nurses led efforts to mobilize the medical community to identify victims, respond to their needs, and prevent violence. Confronting Violence: Improving Women’s Lives examines this late‑20th‑century movement.
|
|
|
When the Medical Women’s National Association launched in 1915, even women physicians themselves were not sure they wanted such an organization. Some spurned the increased visibility such a group would bring, and others argued instead for integration into the broader world of medicine. Now known as the American Medical Women's Association, the organization has over 250 branches dedicated to advancing women in medicine and improving women’s health.
