Former U.S. Ambassador to speak at UTA tomorrow
|
Join us Wednesday, Oct. 8, for the first Maverick Speakers Series event of the 2025-26 season.
Why it matters: Michael McFaul, former U.S. ambassador to Russia, will share his insights on international affairs and more during a conversation with Brian Whitmore, assistant professor of practice in the Charles T. McDowell Center for Global Studies.Â

Time for a mental refresh? CAPS is here!
|
Join UTA Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) for a free mental health check-in Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Central Library Mall. Â
Â
Why it matters: This is the signature program of the Jordan Porco Foundation, a national nonprofit organization centered around suicide prevention, promoting mental health, and creating a message of hope for young adults.Â
Important details: Fresh Check Day is open to all UTA students and will include interactive booths focused on emotional and mental health awareness. No registration is required for this event. Free food and prizes will be available for those who participate!Â

Support student art at the annual glass pumpkin sale!
|
Pumpkin season has arrived in the glass studio, and the UTA Art and Art History Department invites you to the 12th Annual Glass Pumpkin Sale and Fundraiser.
Why it matters: Each pumpkin you’ll see has been handcrafted by our students and faculty, with hours of care and creativity poured into every piece. While you shop, you’ll also have the chance to experience live glassblowing demonstrations.Â
You should know: This event is free and open to all. Every pumpkin you purchase helps support our students through scholarships, materials, and opportunities that keep our glass program thriving. Join us Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Studio Art Center Room C145 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or until sold out.Â

There's no place like homecoming
|
Start planning for UTA’s Homecoming celebration! Get ready for a week of fun Nov. 9-15 for the entire campus and bring your proud Maverick spirit!
Why it matters: Students, alumni, faculty, and staff gather in November to celebrate Maverick spirit. Some of the events this year include:Â
- Paint Your Ride: a drive-through style event where Freshman Leaders on Campus paint vehicle windows to be in Maverick spirit for Homecoming week.

Homecoming Chili Cook-off: Join the Homecoming crew and the Division of Student Affairs for the annual cook-off. Teams will compete to win the title of Chili Cook-off champion.Â

Homecoming 5K: This year’s Homecoming route is a scenic one throughout the UTA campus. Walking, running, and rolling entries are accepted. All proceeds will go to the UTA Emergency Assistance Fund.Â

Office of Emergency Management teaches safety through tacos
|
UTA's Office of Emergency Management hosted Let’s T.A.C.O. About Preparedness event Wednesday, Sept. 24, to better prepare and protect our campus community.Â
Why it matters: Using the powerful motivator of a free taco dinner, the event emphasized the importance of students being prepared both on and off campus. Students had the opportunity to engage with various safety partners and build their own 72-hour college survival kits, giving them hands-on experience with essential preparedness tools.

Help "See the Unseen" with your photography!
|
The Office of International Education invites all Mavericks to submit a photograph entry to be featured in the global photo exhibition, See the Unseen, as part of the International Education Week celebrations.
Â
Why it matters: This exhibition focuses on showcasing the often-overlooked elements of culture and community that shape the world around us.Â
Â
The big picture: All Mavericks with U.S. or international experiences are encouraged to participate and photographs will be displayed based on three areas:
- Intercultural Immersion: Captures moments where individuals are immersed in the culture of a country (U.S. or abroad).Â
- Culture & Landscapes: Highlight the natural beauty and landscapes of country locations (U.S. or abroad).Â

 Cultural Crossings: Photos that capture interactions and connections between people from different cultures or photos which illustrate the ways that cross-cultural trade and culture exchange impacts daily life in the host culture.
The fine print: Submissions will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 31. Email the Office of Global Engagement with any questions.
