After decades of ministry, marriage, and a career in the corporate world, Deacon Stephen Boatwright '69 was ordained to the priesthood on May 31 at the Cathedral of St. Paul. He spent a year in seminary in the 1970s, but the priesthood wasn’t his calling at that time. Instead, he married, built a 35-year career at AT&T, and became a deacon in 1991 after moving to the Twin Cities where he and his wife, Marcia, shared a deep commitment to service. After she passed away from cancer in 2021, Boatwright realized in his grief that "God was writing a new chapter.” After prayerful discernment and encouragement from clergy, he entered priestly formation and was ordained at the age of 74. Read more about his inspiring journey.
