Summer Ceramics Course for Teachers

UA&M’s Arts Education program is excited to announce a three-credit, in-person, eight‑day Summer Intensive Ceramics Course this June! This course is open to teachers of all ability levels — no prior ceramics experience is required. The curriculum meets the ceramics competencies for the Elementary Visual Art Endorsement and the Secondary Visual Art Endorsement, and it counts towards the Art Integration Endorsement. There will be two cohorts offered, one in Morgan and one in Lehi, and participants can choose USBE (Midas) or SUU credit.

| Passport to History Teacher Workshops
|
Repertory Dance Theatre is offering their Passport to History professional learning workshop for junior high and high school dance educators. Over the course of three days, RDT's artistic staff and dancers will offer an exploration of American modern dance history, providing teachers with the skills to teach their students about the pioneers of the form and the groundbreaking choreographers who followed in their footsteps. Teachers will experience lesson plans and creative exercises from RDT's historic dance library. The class is June 22, 23, and 24 at RDT studios in Salt Lake. The workshop offers USBE Credit, MIDAS, and an option for credit hours from Westminster University.

Tanner Dance
Summer Workshop
|
Tanner Dance is offering a three-day summer teacher workshop, June 15-19. Come explore incorporating dance and visual art with math, science, language arts, and social studies. The workshop will explore teaching dance and visual art in a K-6 setting and offer lesson plans that integrate the arts into core subjects. Included is a one-day retreat to a cabin in Midway. Transportation and lunch are provided on this day. Re-licensure hours, USBE credits, and University of Utah credit is available. Tuition scholarships are available for the first 25 Utah educators who register.

The Springville Museum of Art is looking for artists to submit work for an upcoming exhibition and opportunity: “In This Together,” a collaboration with Dr. Julianne Holt-Lunstad, whose research has shaped national and global conversations around social connection and health. At a time when loneliness and isolation are affecting our communities, this project brings art and research into conversation to explore what connection looks like and why it matters.

Free Folk Arts Workshops Available
|
Our Living Folk Arts Education workshop series is accepting applications. This free program allows folk artists from the UA&M Teaching Artists roster to offer hands-on workshops to schools and community groups around the state. Groups can select from a wide range of traditional arts workshops taught by Utah folk artists. You can hold a workshop at the Chase Home Museum in Salt Lake City or arrange to have the artist come to your location.

First opening as a venue for Utah folk art in 1986, the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art has been a valued space of the Utah Division of Arts & Museums for 40 years. In honor of the history of the museum and the artists who have played a vital role in its journey, we are inviting all artists who have worked with our museum to submit artwork proposals for our upcoming exhibition, “40 Years of Folk.” This show will celebrate the variety of artists involved in exhibitions at our museum over the past 40 years.

Open Call for
The Democracy Cycle
|
The Perelman Performing Arts Center and Civis Foundation have launched The Democracy Cycle, and applications are now open. The Democracy Cycle is a program supporting new performing arts works exploring themes relating to the nature, practice, and experience of democracy. Proposals are accepted from artists working in theater, dance, music, opera, and multi-disciplinary performance. The Cycle provides $60,000 in support to each awarded project, consisting of a $30,000 commission plus an additional $30,000 towards each commissioned project’s development process.

| Showcase Applications Are Open for Arts Northwest
|
One of the Western region's leading performing arts service organizations, Arts Northwest organizes the annual Northwest Booking Conference. The conference provides opportunities for professional development, fosters organizational leadership and excellence, and welcomes members from the United States, Canada, and beyond. Selected showcase artists will have a 12-minute performance slot. Apply by April 13.
