Snow and Gusty Winds Forecast Friday Through Sunday, Bitter Cold into Early Next Week

Prepare for Winter Weather on Jan. 30
tips to avoid frozen pipes

A winter storm watch is in effect from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. Heavy snow is possible. Wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph are forecast.

  • Dress in layers to stay warm.
  • Stock up on emergency supplies for your home and car.
  • Consider delaying all travel. If absolutely necessary use extreme caution and take a winter storm kit with you.
  • Check on elderly, ill, or disabled neighbors, friends, and family.
  • Keep pets warm and dry.
  • Prevent hypothermia by staying warm and dry and limiting time outdoors.
  • Have extra water on hand in case pipes freeze or break.
  • Avoid walking or driving on ice. Use non-scooping kitty litter or rock salt to improve traction on icy surfaces.
