Indigenous Peoples' Day Fair

The Indigenous Peoples' Day Fair is an annual event at UTA organized by faculty and students across the University. On Monday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., the Indigenous Peoples' Day Fair will feature food, fun, awareness-building, and connections on the Library Mall. More than a dozen local and regional Native-focused organizations will offer information about their work and ways for others to get involved.

Hispanic Heritage Month keynote speaker

Attend a lunch and learn all about creating a relationship with money and hear from Hispanic Heritage Month keynote speaker Lea Landaverde, founder of Riqueza Collective. The workshop will be tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 9, 12-1:30 p.m. at the Rio Grande Ballroom of the University Center, with an additional pop-up event scheduled for 4-5 p.m. in the same location. UTA Racing will compete against other universities at the 23rd annual Texas Autocross Weekend Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13, in Parking Lot 49. Faculty, staff, students, and the local community are invited to show their support for UTA at the races.

| Theatre arts performances
|
UTA Department of Theatre Arts and Dance presents Room Service, the 1937 comedy by American playwrights Allen Boretz and John Murray, famously made into a film in 1938 by the Marx Brothers. The show runs for six performances in UTA’s Studio Theatre from Wednesday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 13. Purchase tickets.

In honor of Exercise is Medicine Week, the Department of Kinesiology will host a variety of events. Tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 9, 12-1 p.m., there will be a lecture from the Texas American College of Sports Medicine, in Room 198 of the Science and Engineering Innovation and Research Building. On Thursday, Oct. 10, 3:30-4:30 p.m., there will be an “ask a trainer” table at the Maverick Activities Center. On Friday, Oct. 11, 12-1 p.m., there will be a Department of Kinesiology alumni panel at the Lonestar Auditorium.

The McNair Scholars Program at UTA is accepting applications through Friday, Nov. 15. McNair Scholars receive a $4,000 stipend for a summer research internship, prep for Graduate Record Examinations, graduate school application fee waivers, opportunities to participate in research seminars and events, and career development support. The applications for the spring 2025 Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program and Undergraduate Research Assistant Program are now open! These programs allow students of all majors to gain hands-on research experience working with faculty and research mentors on meaningful projects. Participating students will receive a $1,500 stipend for their involvement. Apply by Friday, Nov. 15.
