Emory King Week 2023
Emory University King Week is a series of programs offered in January by various Emory units to honor the life and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. Programs include educational lectures, spiritual events, community service projects, celebrations, and exhibits.

MLK Sunday
MLK Sunday in Beloved Community Worship

11:00 a.m. Service, Noon Lunch, Cannon Chapel
Join Beloved Community for worship and lunch on MLK Sunday with Rev. Tolton Pace 00C 02PH preaching. Rev. Tolton serves as the manager of strategic partnerships and grant programs for the Home Depot Foundation. He is an engaged Emory alumnus, previously serving as co-president of Caucus of Emory Black Alumni (CEBA). 
Emory Beloved Community is a weekly ecumenical Protestant worship service planned for the campus community that gathers Sundays at 11:00 a.m. during the academic year. All are welcome.

WISE Student Coordinator Applications
Welcoming Interfaith and Spiritual Exploration (WISE)
Pre-Orientation Student Coordinator Position Opportunity
OSRL is hiring Student Coordinators to lead the Peer Mentor team for our 2023 WISE Pre-Orientation. The WISE Student Coordinator is a paid, part-time role starting in February 2023 through August 2023. The position requires 4-5 hours per week during the Spring 2023 semester starting in February, a few hours per month in the summer, and an increased time commitment starting during the second week of August during final pre-orientation preparations and for the Peer Mentor training and the WISE program (August 14-19).

Known by a variety of names (Makara Sankranti, Pongal, Maghi, and many more), this festival celebrates the sun’s movement into the northern hemisphere according to many South Asian calendars. Come celebrate with us as we fly kites and enjoy some traditional snacks served during this festival.

Mindfulness and Well-Being Circle

Mindfulness and Well-Being Circle is a space for cultivating and engaging in mindfulness practices for our individual and collective well-being. It is a place for community, rest, and learning. All are welcome to the circle for group meditations, contemplations, and reflections facilitated by Buddhist Chaplain Venerable Priya Rakkhit Sraman. Light refreshments will be provided.

Join the Okefenokee Protection Alliance & Emory Ecological Society for a free screening of the award-winning film Sacred Waters: The Okefenokee in Peril. The threat of a proposed mineral mine near the edge of the Okefenokee looms large, putting the natural integrity of the Swamp at risk. As the award-winning Sacred Waters brings the viewer deeper into the Okefenokee, you understand how great this threat truly is. A brief roundtable discussion featuring leadership from the Okefenokee Protection Alliance and Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge Manager, Michael Lusk, will follow. Immigration Lobby Training

New Sanctuary Movement of Atlanta will host a Lobby Training online on Wednesday, January 18, 7:00-9:00 p.m. The training will be led by Jaime Rangel of FWD.US, and will focus on the nuts and bolts of effectively influencing our elected representatives, as well as how to best lobby for immigration rights during the 2023 legislative session at the Georgia Capitol. Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) Policy and Advocacy Opportunities 
Do you know a young adult looking to begin a career in policy and advocacy?  Applications are now open for these opportunities: FCNL’s Program Assistant fellows work with staff members at FCNL for 11 months to build expertise in policy and advocacy. Deadline is Feb. 10.
