Homecoming Recap

We're not in Kansas anymore

U T A freshmen leaders paint cars for homecoming

Paint Your Ride

"There's been some confusion for, you see, my ride is unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe"—Orange

Freshman Leaders On Campus formed the Paint Your Ride drive-throughs at Arlington and West Hall Circle to help dress up everyone's favorite form of transportation for Homecoming. I'm sure there will be no "loathing" over whose ride is most "popular." Now, we hope that no water appears to melt away the spirit.

Wicked

And speaking of popular, the Intercultural Student Engagement Center presented the sing-along version of Wicked. Students joined Galinda/Glinda, Elphaba, and Fiero at the Oz Fest at Rosebud Theater and enjoyed delicious Wicked-themed popcorn. We wonder how many in attendance defied gravity to hit the high notes?

Are we in Kansas anymore?

After a day of dressing your roots, Wednesday's spirit day 'fit asks students to dress for Defy Gravity Day—follow your career path and dreams. Don't forget to tag @utarlington in your Homecoming posts on Instagram and Facebook.

Mavs bounce back to winning ways

U T A sophomore forward Cash Chavis throws down a big dunk on the Patriots defense

The UTA men's basketball team bounced back from a tough road loss with a dominant 117-61 victory against crosstown rivals Arlington Baptist University.

Why it matters: It was a spirited atmosphere as Homecoming week tipped off with 'American Dream City Night' in the College Park Center and the Mavs' offensive output was a dream itself.

Going deeper: The Mavericks' 117 points matched their highest scoring effort since 2020. The offense was buoyed by strong performances from Raysean Seamster, who led scoring with 19 points, and Arkansas Razorback transfer Cash Chavis with 15 points.

UTA students get in free to the homecoming basketball games with a student ID. In order to enter the game, bring your ID to College Park Center's gate 2.

Maverick Pantry expands services for November

Photo of the exterior of the Maverick Food Pantry.

UTA students, faculty, and staff can now visit the main Maverick Pantry twice throughout the month of November instead of the usual once per month.

Why it matters: The pantry has seen increased use and requests in recent weeks. To meet demand, shoppers can now visit the Maverick Pantry twice through the end of November.

Important information: The only requirement for shopping at the pantry is to bring your active UTA ID. Making an appointment ahead of your visit is strongly encouraged but not required. It is also encouraged that shoppers bring a reusable grocery tote bag; the pantry is bag-free in efforts to promote sustainability and reduce plastic waste.

The Maverick Pantry is made possible through partnerships with the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the generous donations of UTA faculty and staff, as well as Kroger.
