On Saturday, March 28, Dean McGonigle and Muslim Chaplain Abdugafurov welcomed members of the Interfaith Atlanta Sacred Dialogues Fellowship program to Cannon Chapel for a conversation about interfaith engagement at Emory and how the fellows can create action plans for implementing their interfaith learnings. The fellows are engaged in religious and interfaith life in Atlanta in a variety of different ways, and they took the time to discuss what they have learned so far in their program, learn about the vibrant religious and interfaith life at Emory, and begin to create action plans for creating greater interfaith civic cohesion. Emory University Chaplaincy Recap: Journey to Vietnam Pre-Meeting
On Tuesday, March 31, at the Emory Interfaith Center, the Emory University Chaplaincy hosted our third pre-trip orientation meeting for Journeys of Reconciliation—Vietnam, which starts in May. We’ve had excellent presentations by Professor Chris Suh, Professor Tara Doyle, Ven. Dong Hue, and Linh Le 22T. The excitement among our 12 students is palpable for the journey we are about to undertake. On this 40th Anniversary year of Journeys, we are so grateful to all who support it and are part of it.

The first two hours of the first day of the swap, April 9, will feature free acai bowls and inter-religious dialogue about sustainibility with Emory Hillel. Emory Buddhist Club: Day-Long Vipassana Meditation Retreat at Kim Cang Monastery

The Kim Cang Monastery will be hosting a day-long retreat soon. The Monastery was created by Vietnamese Buddhist teacher, Thich Hanh Dat and focuses on teachings from the Mahayana tradition. The retreat will feature an outdoor refuge, several community meditation & Dharma talk sessions, and a free, mindful lunch. Amanda Nguyen — an activist, astronaut and best-selling author — made history as the first Vietnamese and Southeast Asian woman in space. Her bioastronautics research focuses on women’s health. Nguyen was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and awarded TIME Woman of the Year for her work in drafting and passing sexual assault survivor rights in the United States and United Nations. She is the author of The New York Times bestselling memoir “Saving Five.” Nguyen’s visit is made possible by a grant from Emory’s Impact Circles, which uses the power of collective philanthropy to support projects that amplify underrepresented voices.

On Thursday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m., we bring our commitment to public conversation to life at Glenn Memorial Church with Patrick Radden Keefe, one of the most rigorous and compelling investigative writers working today. Keefe is best known for Empire of Pain, his history of Purdue Pharma and the Sackler Family and for Say Nothing, which is the basis for the hit Hulu series set in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.
In London Falling, Keefe examines a family's devastating loss and uncovers a shadow world of money, influence, and hidden power beneath the surface of London's elite. Appearing in conversation with Virginia Prescott, he will reflect not only on the story itself, but on the craft and responsibility of reporting: how careful inquiry, narrative skill, and moral clarity bring difficult truths into public view.

The Center for the Study of Law and Religion is pleased to open the call for participants in our Undergraduate Law and Religion Fellows Program for 2026–2027. The program provides Emory undergraduates with the opportunity to develop their original scholarship in the field of law and religion through peer-mentoring and support from CSLR faculty and fellows,while working with Center leadership to offer undergraduate-facing programs in law and religion. Eagle Food Pantry and Donations
The Eagle Food Pantry is a free food pantry for Emory University Students housed at Bread Coffeehouse. We are open Fridays from 9 am-5 pm during the semester and can be found at 1227 Clifton Rd. Students can visit the pantry as many times as needed and there is no food limit.
Donations can be made through our Amazon wishlist, our website, or dropped off at Bread Monday-Thursday 12-5 pm. Our most desired items are pasta, pasta sauce, oatmeal packets, peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, fruit cups, canned beans, canned veggies, and canned soup. Emory University Chaplaincy: Chaplain Office Hours in AMUC 125
Monday-Friday during Term, Noon-2 p.m., AMUC 125
Emory University Chaplaincy chaplains are available Monday through Friday from approximately Noon-2 p.m. during term in AMUC Suite 125 to offer pastoral care and have meetings with students, faculty, and staff. The general schedule is below and may vary semester to semester.

In Christianity, Lent is the holy season leading up to Easter. In the churches that follow the Gregorian calendar, Lent is a six-week observance (40 days excluding Sundays) beginning with Ash Wednesday and culminating in Holy Week and Easter.

In Orthodox churches, the first day of Lent marks the beginning of the Great Fast, the final six weeks of a 10-week period leading up to Holy Week and Easter (Pascha).
Passover (Pesach)

Tradition: Judaism
Commemorates the deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. It is celebrated for eight days with special prayers and symbolic foods at home, starting with the Seder, a ritual meal that reenacts that ancient deliverance and emphasizes the freedom of the Jews under the guidance of God. The first two and the last two days are holidays.
