Commissioner Anna Richards to Step Down from BOCC After Three Years of Service |

| After three years of dedicated service as a member of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), Commissioner Anna Richards is stepping down from her District 1 seat, effective December 2, 2024.
During her tenure, Commissioner Richards has been a steadfast advocate for the residents of Orange County, contributing significantly to the community's well-being. Her commitment to public service and youth-driven priorities have left a lasting impact on the Orange County community.

Jeffries Dedication on November 24 |

A special nameplate and commemorative bench was unveiled in honor of Lynette Coles Jeffries and John “Blackfeather” Jeffries on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at River Park in Hillsborough. This dedication, located across from the Occaneechi Replica Village, celebrates the lives and legacy of two individuals whose impact on the community continues to be deeply felt. The ceremony, featured members of the Jeffries family, the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation (OBSN), and the Orange County community.

The Orange County Department of Social Services is hosting the Toy Chest, which is an annual holiday toy program that supplies low-income Orange County children with new toys. In 2023, Toy Chest provided holiday cheer for 1,205 families and 2,019 children ages 0-12 with presents, books, clothing and food. Consider donating money, toys or your time to make this year's event a success.
