Two For One: Urban One RVP/GM-Ohio Markets Eddie Harrell, Jr. and RVP/GM-Indianapolis Deon Levingston will be named Co-Presidents/Audio Division as CEO/Radio Division David Kantor retires, effective Jan. 5. "The radio industry is losing one of its giants, and Urban One is bidding farewell to a venerable leader whose passion and vision have helped to shape our industry, guide our company, and serve our growing and diverse audience," says CEO Alfred Liggins. Kantor joined Radio One in 2004 when it acquired controlling interest in Reach Media, which he co-founded in 2002. His previous stops include Satellite Music Network, ABC Radio Networks and AMFM, Inc. Harrell joined the company in 2011; Levingston has been in his role since 2016. With proceeds from the Oct. 26 Concert For Carolina benefit show (CAT 10/28), Eric Church's Chief Cares nonprofit will build 100 homes for hurricane victims in Avery County, NC and surrounding areas as part of its new "Blueprint For The Blue Ridge" initiative. In a video announcing the plan, Church says future plans include creating jobs, rebuilding schools and supporting local businesses.

Details have emerged about Jelly Roll’s planned Nashville bar – Jelly’s Roll’s Goodnight Nashville (CAT 10/14). Permitting puts the establishment at 209 Broadway, on the site where five-story venue Bottled Blonde is under construction.

Chronicle: Radio People KJLO/Monroe, LA midday host John Reynolds died Oct. 28. He was 55. Following service in the Navy, the Louisiana native started at KJLO in 1998, quickly becoming part of the morning show. He moved to Key West, FL in 2017, but returned to Monroe in 2019 (CAT 8/5/19). No word on services. |
