UTA experts discuss upcoming solar eclipse

At the panel discussion hosted by UTA and The Dallas Morning News, four UTA experts discussed the total solar eclipse happening in April. Read about their perspectives on the eclipse based in history, physics, nursing and health innovation, and astronomy in an article by The Dallas Morning News. Tesia Kwarteng is a professional mezzo-soprano soloist and voiceover actor  who went from Maverick Country to the Metropolitan Opera. She said the support she received from UTA faculty in the Department of Music is what really helped her get where she is today.

Come watch the UTA premiere of The Color Purple on Monday, Feb. 26,  at 6 p.m. at the UTA Planetarium. There will be free admission, free concessions, and a chance to win great prizes.

Hiring International Students Workshop

International Career Week (Monday, Feb. 26-Friday, March 1)  is an initiative that prepares Global Mavericks for the job and internship search and provides strategies for networking. To learn more about the process of hiring international students for on-campus employment, attend the Hiring International Students Workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 12-1 p.m., in the Student Government Chambers in the University Center.

The UTA Department of Theatre and Dance presents Head Over Heels, the 2018 Broadway musical mash-up of Renaissance poetry and 1980s pop music by the Go-Go’s. The show runs for six performances from Wednesday, Feb. 28, though Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on March 2 and 3 at 2 p.m. Purchase tickets.

There are five more home sporting events this week. Faculty and staff can get two free tickets to any UTA regular season home sporting event (excluding men’s and women’s basketball games). Camp Arlington at UTA

Camp Arlington at UTA is offering a summer day camp to children ages 3-5 and to those entering first through fifth grade. Kidventure’s camp curriculum will include athletics, art, team building, rock climbing, archery, field trips, special guests, yoga, and fine and gross motor skills. Registration is open now, so sign up today! The tuition cost for each week of camp is $340, with discounts for two or more children in the same family, UTA faculty members, and AISD teachers.

Submit a program that increases Latino student success to Examples of Excelencia. The UTA Department of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives is available to provide assistance with applications or nominations. Earth Day is an annual celebration acknowledging environmental accomplishments while emphasizing the necessity of preserving natural resources. The Office of Sustainability invites you to register your departments or organizations to exhibit at the Earth Day Fair, which will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Brazos Park.

Volleyball Nation's League

Volleyball Nation’s League (VNL) tournament is returning to College Park Center  this summer! The world’s top teams will compete May 28-June 2 for the last major volleyball event before the Paris Olympics and the only VNL games in the U.S. this year.
