Harvesting and storing of mycotoxin affected corn grain
|
The fungi that cause several corn ear rot diseases can produce mycotoxins, which are chemical substances that can be dangerous to humans and livestock. Corn affected by ear rots requires important management steps to limit yield losses and reduce mycotoxin concentrations.

Episode 2: Gracing Cover Crops Inteseeded into 60" Row Corn |
One from the archives: Whereas most grain farmers with a livestock grow crops to feed their cattle, Jeff Gaska a farmer between Beaver Dam and Columbus in Dodge County is trying to grow his cattle to feed his crops. One of the ways he is moving towards this goal is by grazing cover crops interseeded into 60″ row corn. We talk with Jeff about this system, the results that he has had over the last couple of years as well as the approach to how he is determining if it is an economically viable practice for his farm.

Fresh Cow Management in Automatic Milking Systems
|
Fresh cows are a critical group on the farm. Cows’ success during the fresh period lays the foundation for their lactation. While many core strategies for fresh cow management apply across both conventional and Automatic Milking Systems (AMS) 🔍, AMS facilities introduce some unique considerations. Understanding these can help farmers optimize cow health, production, and farm workflow.
