Utah Artist Fellowship Applications Close March 6

The Utah Artist Fellowships are $5,000 awards that recognize the careers of Utah artists demonstrating exceptional creativity in their fields. Fellows are chosen by out-of-state, nationally renowned arts professionals. Selections are based on evaluation of application narratives as well as work samples from the past five years. Fellowships will be awarded in each of these categories:
Literary Arts – Five fellowships
Performing Arts (Music 2026) – Five fellowships
Visual Arts & Design Arts – Eight fellowships
Application closes March 6 at 5 p.m.

Poetry Out Loud State Finals Competition
|
Join us for a free evening of competition and celebration at the Utah State Finals for Poetry Out Loud, at the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center in Taylorsville on March 4 at 7 p.m. Watch Utah’s most talented high school voices take the stage to compete for the state title and a trip to Washington, D.C., to represent us at the national championships. You'll also hear original works from the winners of Poetry Ourselves, our statewide student writing competition, plus performances by DJ Chris "Chacho" Valdez and the crew from The School of Dance. We'll also be live-streaming on Facebook. Join us!

Our partners at UVU Native Excellence are pleased to invite you to a free screening of “Bring Them Home | Aiskótáhkapiyaaya” on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the UVU Noorda Theater. This event is a chance to connect, reflect, and learn about important Native stories. “Bring Them Home” tells the powerful story of the Blackfeet Nation’s decades-long effort to return wild buffalo to their ancestral lands, and with them, a critical part of Blackfeet identity, spirituality, and sovereignty. The film is directed by Daniel Glick and Ivan and Ivy MacDonald, a brother-and-sister filmmaking team who are members of the Blackfeet Tribe. Watch the trailer here!

Young Vocalist
Online Competition
|
Calling all young singers! The tenth annual Young Vocalists Online Competition is now accepting applications. Competition is open to vocalists ages 13 through 18, and the deadline to enter is April 1. Cash prizes are awarded, as well as detailed written feedback for all contestants. Contestants must submit recordings of two classical or musical theatre solo performances.

| M‘art’ch Madness
Art Contest
|
Submissions are open for the 2026 M‘art’ch Madness art competition for K-12 students. This multidisciplinary art competition lets you share your artwork with others and contribute to a celebration of the arts and their importance in your school. Submit a work of art on this year’s theme, “Joy in Belonging.” It could be music, dance, drama, or a visual artwork. Select pieces will win a grand prize or a judges’ choice award. Enter by Feb. 14.

Free Folk Arts Workshops Available
|
Our Living Folk Arts Education workshop series is accepting applications. This free program allows folk artists from the UA&M Teaching Artists roster to offer hands-on workshops to schools and community groups around the state. Groups can select from a wide range of traditional arts workshops taught by Utah folk artists. You can hold a workshop at the Chase Home Museum in Salt Lake City or arrange to have the artist come to your location.

| Apply for Native Arts and Heritage Fund
|
Creative West is offering the Native Arts and Heritage Fund. This funding opportunity supports individual Native American and Alaska Native artists, culture bearers, and cultural practitioners. This is not a project-based grant. It provides funding, mentorship, and culturally-rooted support to awardees. Apply by March 8.

NEA Funding for U.S. Military Bands
|
New funding from the National Endowment for the Arts focuses on celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday with music from U.S. military bands. This program recognizes the role military bands have played throughout U.S. history, celebrating the nation’s spirit through a range of musical genres. Eligible organizations may apply for a grant ranging from $10,000 to $20,000 (no cost share required) for projects that feature performances and/or educational programming with a U.S. military band to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. Apply by Feb. 23.

| Grant Support for International Performances
|
USArtists International supports U.S. artists with eligible performance engagements abroad, providing grants of up to $11,000 that can help cover expenses such as flights, lodging, per diems, and more. The program funds individuals and ensembles that meet criteria and are based anywhere in the U.S., across all performing arts practices and disciplines. Apply by Feb. 25.
