Michael Warren Celebrates February 7th Release
Of Debut EP What’s Country To You

Birmingham-born hit songwriter (with cuts by J.Lo, Toni Braxton)
to take over Nashville’s iconic Whiskey Jam on February 9th

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 1, 2023) — Michael Warren revels in his southern roots on his debut EP What’s Country To You, out Tuesday, February 7.

Already an accomplished songwriter with notable cuts by J.Lo, Akon and Toni Braxton, Warren — who now splits his time between Nashville and Birmingham, and has opened for country stars including Lauren Alaina, Jake Owen, and Zac Brown — takes the mic to challenge the status quo with his new project, produced by Aaron Eshuis (Scotty McCreery, Maren Morris, Ryan Hurd).

"With culture finally seeing that country music is not only meant to be inclusive but our differences celebrated, I love asking this question: ‘What’s country to you?’ Like life, love and art, country music means a little something different to us all,” Warren says. “This spring I'll get to ask that question to fans everywhere through my music — maybe even bringing some love to the world as I do it."

The EP’s title track (released Oct. 21) earned the DISCovery Award from MusicRow Magazine’s Robert K Oermann, who said, “[Warren] bops through the countryfied lyric with verve and smiles while the guitars ring and chime. Add this."

His second track EP track, “Another Round” (1.10), earned immediate adds on two playlists at Spotify: New Music Friday Country and Country Frequency.

Fresh off a concert for U.S. Marines stationed in Hawaii and a visit to CMT where he performed for the staff, Warren — whose “What’s Country To You” music video premiered on CMT — will headline Nashville’s iconic Whiskey Jam on Thursday, February 9, with a self-curated guest artist lineup, before heading out on tour.

Upcoming Shows:
Feb 9 - Whiskey Jam | Nashville, TN
Feb 12 – The Union | Mt. Holly, NJ
Feb 15 - Pub Crawl | Nashville, TN
Feb 25 - The Waters | Pike Road, AL
Mar 16 - The Republik | Honolulu, HI

About Michael Warren:
Michael Warren’s unwavering quest for country music stardom will take him through America’s small and college towns, where he will unquestionably bring new fans into the genre he’s loved since he was a kid growing up outside of Birmingham, AL. After playing more than 200 shows a year for almost a decade and writing songs in Los Angeles for A-listers like Jennifer Lopez and Akon, he found his way back to his home along the Interstate 65 corridor, where he now splits time between Birmingham and Nashville.

Warren’s four-song EP What's Country To You, recorded in Music City, reflects his ability to channel his love of “Southern things” — “faith, family, friends, Bass Pro Shop, football, barbecue, hard work” — into songs that are as danceable in a honky tonk bar as on a Spring Break mix tape. These are not R&B songs that err in the direction of country music via instrumental or production choices. Instead, these are veritable country songs that bear the ability to translate the soulful flourishes from contemporary influences like Jason Aldean, John Mayer, and Rascal Flatts.

Warren reimagines these influences from the perspective of his unique upbringing, which exposed him to equal parts Southern rap icons like Master P, to classics like James Taylor, Bob Marley, and Garth Brooks (who led him to the acoustic guitar). His tastes haven’t deviated much as an adult. His proudly Southern, guitar-loving, rock-ready music fits effortlessly alongside contemporary country artists like Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and Darius Rucker.
