A group of DCHS students attended the Iowa Religious Freedom Day breakfast today at the Iowa State Capitol. They had the unique opportunity to meet and engage with state legislators—including several DCHS alumni—and were introduced in the House and Senate chambers. An inspiring and memorable experience for our students!
DCHS Career Academy students had two opportunities to explore future pathways this week as they visited Mercy College of Health Sciences and the University of Iowa. They toured the campuses, engaged in hands-on activities, participated in an academic breakout session and more. It was a great way learn about various health science programs and career options!

Tuition Assistance 
The deadline to apply for tuition assistance from the Catholic Tuition Organization (CTO) is April 15th. Applying for tuition assistance does not affect ESA eligibility. Please visit www.fairapp.com to apply (school code: 450 | password: 450ddm).
Bash on Buffalo 
Bidding for the Bash is open! Visit the Bash website to get tickets to attend in person or as a remote bidder. Check out the new items just added, including a Caitlin Clark autographed Fever jersey and other signed memorabilia! 

Senior Survey
Please remind your senior fill out the Future Plans Survey by May 1st. This is required for their information to be showcased at the senior assembly. 
Junior Achievement Workshop
On July 16th, Junior Achievement is hosting a Rising Women Workshop. Open to 50 female students, ages 14-21, participants will experience presentations and activities surrounding important topics, such as leadership skills, career-readiness, and goal-setting.  
Parking Passes
Class of 2026 & 2027 parents will receive a link via email on April 18th to purchase parking passes for next year. Passes are only available for next year's juniors and seniors at this time and will be available for purchase until May 7th. A
fter that date, remaining passes will be placed into a lottery for the Class of 2028.
International Host Familes

Spring Musical
Dowling Catholic High School presents Shrek The Musical on May 1st & 2nd at 7:30 pm and May 3rd at 2:00 & 7:30 pm. Purchase tickets online
Dowling Catholic Year-End Carnival 
Join us on May 17th from 4-6 PM at the DCHS gym for a fun-filled afternoon! This free event is for Pre-K to 3rd grade kids in the Diocese of Des Moines. Enjoy carnival games, face painting, balloons, music, prizes, and more! All are welcome—feel free to bring friends with younger children, even if they’re not part of the diocese. Senior Yard Signs & Ornaments
Ordering for personalized yard signs and ornaments is open through May 1st.
Pickup will begin May 5th in the Campus Store. The Campus Store will also offer tableware for your grad party! Ordering is open through April 10th and will deliver to the Campus Store the week of May 10th. 
Uniform Ordering - IMPORTANT
Uniform ordering will close at midnight on May 15th. Place your order here if you'd like your student to have new items when school begins. Stock held by the Campus Store is intended for transfer families.

Post Prom 
Plans are underway for Post Prom at Spare Time in West Des Moines on May 10th. Your support is needed to help offset expenses and keep ticket costs low! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation through Give Butter or sending a check to DCHS Post Prom. Donations for prizes can be dropped off at the Business Office.  
Visit Skeffington's for special pricing on tuxedo rentals! Post Prom will receive a donation when you let them know you're with DCHS! 
Nonpublic Transportation Reimbursement
Families who live more than three miles one-way from DCHS may be eligible for a nonpublic transportation reimbursement. Forms must be submitted each semester (by Dec. 1 & May 1). Eligible families will receive one check following the end of the school year. Instructions are available here.

ON CAMPUS
Lenten Almsgiving 
People to People's  Lenten Almsgiving project will benefit Mary's Meals. For $25.20, we can feed a student in Africa for an entire year. The goal is to raise funds to feed 350 students, and for $6.30/student, we will achieve this goal. Cash, coins and checks will be collected through Easter. Donate in Theology classrooms, the cafeteria or online. Thank you for your support! 
Art Sale
The Art Department is having a small art show on Thursday, April 24th from 3:30-5 pm with items available to purchase (jewelry, photography, ceramics, art blocks, soap, glass jewelry, vases). 
Job Openings
DCHS is seeking a part-time Alumni Relations Manager , and a full-time Operations Manager to join the Advancement Team. We are also seeking a registar to work with student records and assist the Asst. Principal with scheduling, grading, progress reports, and transcripts. Learn more and apply online.

Northwest Bank Scholarship
DCHS students are invited to apply for a Northwest Bank scholarship. The application must be  submitted by April 14th to Mrs. Koppes. Learn more here
Max Fahnlander Scholarship
Applications are open for the Max Fahnlander Memorial Scholarship. Please return to student services by April 22nd. The scholarship was created to honor the life of Max Fahnlander and is based on the virtues of fraternal charity, compassion, faith, and integrity; all of which exhibit the nature of servant leadership. All graduating seniors are eligible and encouraged to apply regardless of their future plans. The scholarship is a $5,000 award to be paid in full from the Fahnlander family directly to the recipient by June 1, 2025.
Drake Healthcare Opportunity 
Drake College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers a unique opportunity for high school students and recent graduates to explore health professions. The BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare Overnight Experience will take place July 10-12 on the Drake campus. Learn more here
Iowa Hero Academy 
The Iowa Hero Academy is launching this summer providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity for young women (ages 16-18) to explore careers in firefighting, policing and the military. This camp is run by the Des Moines Police and Fire Departments and the Iowa National Guard. It will take place July 27- August 1 at Camp Dodge in Johnston. Apply at DSM.city/IowaHeroes.
Scholarship for Youth Caddies
The Evans Scholarship is a full-tuition and housing college scholarship for youth caddies. Wakonda and the WGA are partnering with area schools to connect high-achieving (and need-based) students with summer caddying jobs. A program overview is available here

A FREE symposium will be held on Friday, April 25 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at University of Nebraska Omaha's Dodge Campus. It's perfect for high school students interested in exploring healthcare careers. Register here

Summit STEM Fellowship
This virtual summer fellowship, open to rising 9th-12th grade students, aims to identify top students and connect them with mentors from Stanford, MIT, Harvard, and other top institutions, to explore opportunities and career pathways in STEM.
