You are finally in the home stretch! Whether you came to GVSU directly from high school, transferred in, started later, or journey here from afar, you have had an impact on this institution.Β

You took the classes, joined the clubs, finished the homework, and have *almost* made it out the other side. Through late nights, early mornings, and weekend study sessions, you persevered. Maybe you made some amazing new friends, met your partner, adopted a new furry friend, or completed another wonderful milestone. Of course, there were hard things too. There were probably sick days, bad mental health days, losses, and other painful things you had to persist through to make it here. But you did it.Β

In times like these when it can be difficult to feel the magnitude of our accomplishments against the stress of our exams, it can be helpful to reflect on your younger self. Picture little you, perhaps missing a couple teeth, covered in mud stains, hanging out on the swings. In your imagination, sit down next to your younger self on that swing set. Share with them how you discovered your major, did well on that test, maybe found your passion. Share you next steps, your dreams, your aspirations. I would imagine little you is smiling, and is so excited and proud of who you are. Stand up, give them a hug, and get ready to walk across that stage for you, and all the past versions of you cheering you on your way.Β

Once again, congratulations. Our team is rooting for you as you embark on your next chapter!Β
