Lands Legacy Program Reaches Conservation Milestone as 2024 Draws to a Close

As the clock ticked down in 2024, the Lands Legacy Program marked a historic achievement, celebrating 25 years of conserving Orange County’s most significant natural and cultural resources. In the final business hours of December 31, 2024, program staff finalized a 31-acre conservation easement in southwestern Orange County. This milestone brought the total land conserved through the program’s conservation easement component to an impressive 3,004 acres, surpassing the 3,000-acre mark.

Orange County Announces 2025 Government Academy Cohort

Orange County is excited to announce the launch of the 2025 Government Academy, a comprehensive program designed to educate residents about the inner workings of Orange County government. The program begins Tuesday, March 4, and concludes with a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, June 3, at the Whitted Human Services Building in Hillsborough.

The 2025 Government Academy offers an eight-session curriculum held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sessions include in-person tours of key county facilities. Participants may miss up to three classes and still graduate. The course is open to all county residents aged 16 and older.
