Noah Burns has joined the Office of Inclusive Excellence as an Administrative Assistant.
He received his bachelor's degree in printmaking from the University of Northern Iowa. He comes to Larner with experience in multiple professional roles including instructing art courses, participating in artist residencies and routesetting at Metrorock Essex.
Noah looks forward to working alongside and learning from the whole of the Larner community.

| Nickens Nominee Announced
|
Evelyn Thomas, '27, is the Larner College of Medicine’s nominee for the AAMC Herbert C. Nickens Medical Student Scholarship. Each year, the AAMC selects five third-year medical students from across the country to receive a $5,000 scholarship. Thomas' leadership in the SNMA and GSA, along with her community engagement, shows her dedication to underserved communities.

AAMC President and CEO David J. Skorton, MD, issued a statement on the commencement of layoffs and reorganization at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “The work that the Department of Health and Human Services carries out each day touches the lives of every American. As part of the HHS reorganization, critical leaders were laid off, reassigned, or placed on administrative leave. AAMC releases statement on the Senate budget resolution
|
AAMC Chief Public Policy Officer Danielle Turnipseed, JD, MHSA, MPP, issued a statement on the budget resolution set for consideration by the U.S. Senate. “As the Senate considers its fiscal year 2025 budget resolution, we urge lawmakers to safeguard and ensure access to care for millions of hardworking Americans by rejecting policies that could result in substantial reductions in federal health care programs and restrict access to federal student financial aid for the next generation of physicians.” Read more

Apply for the ABMS Visiting Scholars program
|
Applications are being accepted for the 2025-26 American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Visiting Scholars program, a year-long, part-time program that supports the research of early-career physicians and researchers. Grants of $15,000 are awarded to support research and travel expenses associated with program participation and research deliverables. The application deadline is June 23, and an informational webinar will be held April 15 at 6 pm ET. Read more

For over 30 years, the AAMC’s Maximizing Impact and Networks for Faculty Advancement and Community (MINFAC) Leadership Development Seminar has helped faculty tackle the “hidden curriculum” of career advancement. Utilizing the AAMC’s Principles for Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medical School and Residency Selection, the AAMC – together with its AI in Admissions and Selection Technical Advisory Committee – has developed a collection of resources designed to support medical schools and residency and fellowship programs in effectively understanding and integrating AI into their selection processes. The AAMC developed these resources to assist schools and programs in leveraging AI capabilities and determining the readiness of their institution, evaluate possible vendors, and understand AI terms and definitions.
