2025-2026 Provost Teaching & Learning Initiatives

We're pleased to announce 12 new Provost Teaching and Learning Initiatives! These projects address the discipline-specific priority needs of all seven colleges at Georgia Tech; each initiative is led by one or more faculty members with significant experience in teaching and learning along with support from a CTL Liaison. The 2025-2026 Initiatives explore AI-assisted courses, student well-being, the intersection of science, technology, and the arts, and much more. View this year's Initiatives.

Ungrading: Innovative evaluation for student-centered learning

Alternative Grading: Book Club & Faculty Learning Community

FLC: Biweekly AY25-26 | Book Club: Biweekly in Fall

We're offering two opportunities to explore alternative grading and assessment this fall: a faculty learning community and a book club! Book club members will read Robert Talbert's Grading for Growth; both groups will discuss innovative, student-centered approaches to evaluation. Space is limited; register soon for one or both opportunities.

Future Faculty Job Search Academy

September 5, 10 a.m.-noon, Crosland 4160

This four-part workshop series prepares graduate students and postdoctoral scholars for the unique academic job search process. On September 5th, we'll kick off the series and discuss practical strategies as you prepare your CV for your application packets. Participants are welcome to register for individual sessions or for the entire series.

Faculty Teaching and Learning Forum: Mid-Semester Feedback

Sept. 9 & 30, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m, Exhibition Hall

Join this two-part interactive forum to explore the power of mid-semester feedback to enhance teaching and learning. We’ll share strategies for gathering student input, interpreting responses, and making timely adjustments. Walk away with practical tools and fresh inspiration to make meaningful changes before the semester’s over.

Teaching with Technology Roundtable: Web Accessibility & Canvas

Sept. 11, 10-11 a.m., Clough 466A or Zoom

During this roundtable, we'll discuss the new Department of Justice web accessibility rule and how it impacts Canvas course content at Georgia Tech. We’ll explore Universal Design for Learning principles that help us better support learning for all students. Roundtables are casual, faculty-led discussions about relevant campus technologies with pedagogical insights.

Cultivating a Growth Mindset

Sept. 19, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Crosland 4160

This workshop explores how students experience failure in the classroom and how instructors can respond in ways that foster growth, resilience, and meaningful learning. We'll introduce practical instructional strategies across three areas - communication, feedback, and assessment - that help shift students’ perceptions of failure from threat to opportunity.

How Learning Works

September 25, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Crosland 4160

Our teaching workshop series kicks off in September! We'll start by exploring how learners acquire, remember, and apply information. While the difference in knowledge between instructors and students can make teaching and learning difficult, understanding how learning works helps bridge the divide between experts and novice learners.

Teaching with Technology Partnerships

Applications Due August 29

Do you have a teaching and learning problem that technology can help solve? We're accepting Teaching with Technology Partnership proposals exploring creative technological uses and solutions to existing course struggles. Partners receive a year of hands-on guidance from CTL as they develop, implement, and assess new projects.
