Summer 2025

Class of 2025 at the Temple/St. Luke's School of Medicine

Start Here. Grow Here. Thrive Here.

Temple/St. Luke’s Medical School continues to carry out its mission of educating future generations of doctors so they can train and grow their careers in the Lehigh Valley. Yet, facing $200,000 in debt upon graduation can deter talented medical students from pursuing their dreams.

We are grateful to our donors who support student scholarships, as they play a vital role in removing these obstacles and ensure that these bright medical students can focus on their education. This generosity helps to strengthen our health care workforce and enhance the well-being of our communities, in addition to providing opportunities for student research that will help advance and change the face of medicine.

Thank you for supporting our mission—take a minute to hear from two of our medical school students, Nate and Izzy, who share their appreciation for our donors. Together, we can make a lasting impact—one scholarship at a time.

Thank you for helping us change lives and create a stronger, healthier community.

Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine Students Grateful for Scholarships

Scholarships to the Temple/ St. Luke’s School of Medicine help offset the cost of tuition for students like Nate Berger and Isabelle “Izzy” Salvador. For Nate, becoming a doctor isn’t just a career; it’s a calling. Inspired by his father and driven by a deep love for his hometown, he is training to care for the very community that raised him.

Izzy was inspired by her mother, a St. Luke’s registered nurse, to pursue an education in health care. She says that working in medicine is “an unbelievable privilege” and is grateful for scholarships that help her focus on her studies without the worry of added debt.

Student authors at Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine Research Day

Endowment Supports Student Research Opportunities

Over 30 student authors recently gave presentations of their research at the third annual Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine Research Day. This was the first year the event was named for Dr. Santo Longo, a dedicated faculty member and mentor to many students. In addition, Dr. Longo and his wife, Angie, support medical education through their Medical Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Third-year student Dima Khalil ‘26 says that research projects allow students to gain valuable insight into how science and medicine directly interact. “It teaches students the importance of lifelong learning as new research is constantly being published that changes the way we practice medicine,” she added.
