New Social Principles Book Available!

Teaming up with The General Board of Church and Society, Cokesbury has completed the editing and production of the official book, Social Principles of The United Methodist Church 2025-2028.

First adopted by the 1972 General Conference, the official Social Principles document stands in the Wesleyan tradition of forthright moral witness and ethical action. We encourage you to read and become familiar with them.

The Social Principles articulate The United Methodist Church’s ethical aspirations for the common good in public policies and personal commitments. Through them, we seek to love God with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength and to desire for our neighbors what we desire for ourselves.

Copies are available for purchase from Cokesbury for individual or group study.

Cooper Elementary Support for Back-to-School!

Opportunities!

Cooper Elementary is in need of support as the beginning of school approaches. Opportunties to serve include:

Two immediate projects (beginning as soon as July 28):

  • Book Labeling: Help relabel DRA books with Lexile numbers for the literature lab. No experience needed—support will be provided. You can work solo or in groups.
  • Bookbag Filling: Help assemble bookbags for students before school starts.

Other upcoming opportunities:

  • Thursday, August 1 (6am–6pm): Teachers can finally enter classrooms after a flooring delay. Volunteers are needed to assist with setup.
Wednesday, August 6 (12pm–4pm): Bring snacks or cookies to celebrate teachers’ success on STAAR testing. They exceeded district expectations!
Tuesday, August 12 (5pm–7pm): Back to School Night. Help staff a Wellspring table to connect with families.

During the school year:

  • Volunteer to read with kids, tutor, or help in the office or copy room.
