School Time FOCUS Has Started

The 2nd & 3rd graders enjoying our "Magnetic Bricks." A fun way to encourage engineering skills.

WOW Tuesdays

4-H lady - Jennifer Payne came in with her rabbits.

She also provided a painting activity with rabbit food. The children learned what a rabbit eats while they enjoyed a painting activity.

A child-led lesson. Konner brought in his rabbit. He talked about the ways he cared for his rabbit. He feeds it hay, grass and rabbit pellets. He has a large area for the rabbit to move around in.

The other youth enjoyed being able to pet and hold "Fawn". Konner was able to answer questions addressed to him about a rabbit's care. We learned that it is important to have lots of room and objects for a rabbit to climb and stretch.

Gaga Boxes

Each year we make a "Gaga Box." We start out decorating our boxes.

Then, the youth bring items from home to show their friends. A great way to get to know each other better.

It might be a favorite toy, pictures of their family or a book they enjoyed reading.

Our youth enjoy telling their friends about the things that are important to them.

Many items the youth showed were unique to that person. We want to celebrate their likes and dislikes whether the same or different from their friends.

Ms. Betty listens intently while her little ones tell her about themselves. They didn't bring items from home but had lots to talk about.

Our 6th, 7th and 8th Graders

We have added the 7th - 8th grades to our program. They have been mentoring our younger youth.

Ms. Becky and Paxton practice on the cupcakes they will be making with the younger youth.

Our Daily Activities

Our school playground offers lots of opportunities for physical education.

The youth love to play "Gaga Ball." I love the energy they have while playing.

K-1st having free time to use their imaginations. They were able to direct their own activities. I was impressed.

More "Magnetic Bricks" creations. Again, I was impressed. We have some creative youth.

The youth made "Sled Kites." These are from the "Flight and Aerodynamic" kits.

Then they took them outside to fly. The faster they ran, the better they flew.

We celebrated our September birthdays by going to the village park. We want to highlight this special day in their lives.

They ate cake and ice cream and played on the park equipment. By next month we hope to add a couple more things to make this a special day.
