Professor, bestselling author Arthur C. Brooks to join faculty at Vanderbilt |
On the heels of his selection as Vanderbilt’s 2026 Graduates Day speaker, Arthur C. Brooks—internationally acclaimed scholar, bestselling author and happiness researcher—will join the Vanderbilt faculty. A widely respected voice at the intersection of science, ancient wisdom and public life, he will serve as an endowed professor of medicine, health and society in the College of Arts and Science beginning July 1.

Vanderbilt Magazine: The Art of Dialogue |
Every summer, before arriving on campus, Vanderbilt’s incoming class gets an assignment. Last summer, for the first time in 16 years, that task changed. Instead of reading a book, 1,600 first-year students-to-be were asked to go into their community and practice the art of dialogue—to talk to someone who could deepen, broaden and shift their understanding of the world. Then, they had to write a short reflection about the encounter.
