As I reflect on my tenure as Dean of the Business School in my final edition of Sydney Business Connect, I am immensely proud of the achievements of our community during a time of unprecedented growth and disruption.
At the University of Sydney Business School our vision is to inspire, inform, and empower others to shape a better future for business and humanity. Our ‘Business Not as Usual’ strategy has enabled us to do just that by remaining future-oriented, responsible, and engaged in the face of volatility and uncertainty.
From establishing
Sydney Business Insights and
redesigning teaching and learning to launching
new majors and programs such as
Sydney Executive Plus’ AI Fluency Sprint, we have continued to lead in business education innovation in Australia.
We are also committed to
aligning our teaching, research and operations to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as part of our commitment to the UN’s Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), and we are now seeking ‘PRME Leader’ status mapping all our teaching and research endeavours across the 17 SDGs.
Diversity, equity, and inclusivity has been a key theme of my deanship and I was particularly proud that our part-time MBA became the first cohort in Australia to achieve gender balance. This was accelerated by our
partnership with UN Women Australia, which has enabled more than 20 inspiring women to undertake an MBA.
Indeed, we continue to build strong partnerships with industry, government, not-for-profits and Business Schools worldwide, and I’m delighted with our recent articulation agreements with
O.P. Jindal Global University and
two Vietnamese universities.
I am also so proud to have seen the work of our community celebrated and recognised externally. From our
award-winning Job Smart Edge program, and our
top-ranking management education programs, to joining the 1% of Business Schools worldwide with
‘triple crown’ accreditation. There are so many more examples I could highlight.
I would like to sincerely thank you all for your support during my tenure. I look forward to seeing the vision of the Business School continue to thrive under the leadership of Professor Leisa Sargent and I wish you all the best for the future.
Professor Greg Whitwell
Dean, The University of Sydney Business School
