Greetings from Goldie, TU's Canine Ambassador
TU debuted our canine ambassador program more than 10 years ago.
Our beloved Goldie unites the spirit of our TU campus and our Tulsa community. She greets prospective students and their families during visit days to welcome them to campus; she wanders McFarlin Library during finals week to offer a furry respite to would-be test-takers; and she attends athletic events to support Golden Hurricane teams and fans.
Goldie loves making new friends on campus, eating dog treats, and getting lots of hugs from our community members and visitors. TU even opened a dog park on campus in 2022 for students, alumni, faculty, and staff to use at their leisure with their own furry friends! Goldie hopes to welcome you and/or your students on TU's campus soon!

For incoming first-year TU students
All admitted TU first-year students are invited to participate in JumpstartTU, a one-week, summer, international experience in one of three locations: Panama, Mexico, or Germany. (Germany was added this year after we celebrated the 25th anniversary of our partnership with Siegen University in Germany in the fall. Student exchange opportunities, enhanced collaborative research, internships, and so much more have come out of this global relationship.)
Interested students must apply on or before April 12 using the JumpStartTU application found in their Hurricane Tracker (TU's applicant portal). Encourage your admitted students to apply for this unique opportunity!

What do YOU love about Tulsa?
In last month's newsletter we asked you what you loved about TU. Thanks for your responses! We thought we'd share a few here:
Thank you for your compassionate approach to financial aid in regard to the student and parent situation taking place right now.

Tulsa has done such a great job marketing to me this year. I love that TU students are down to earth kids who enjoy life but don’t need to fill it by being super busy; just being in the presence of their classmates is a fulfilling experience for them and while hanging out with each other, they feel like they’re having an awesome collegiate experience. And this new NMSF scholarship is big draw, I’m hopeful some of my students will take advantage of it!

I love TU's commitment to the city of Tulsa and to being both of and in the city ... from including historical sites on counselor fly-ins, to student engagement with the Gilcrease, and more ... TU does the town/gown relationship right.
(The admissions team is also deeply reflective and open to collegial feedback - it's been a great honor to serve on the counselor advisory board with these professionals)

TU Students on The Drew Barrymore Show
| Goldie and a Montereau resident during The Drew Barrymore Show watch party.
Two TU music students live at Montereau retirement community in Tulsa and perform monthly concerts in exchange for room and board. This intergenerational immersion program seeks to encourage understanding and collaboration while emphasizing an appreciation for others. Bringing older and younger generations together in this setting fosters an environment where both parties learn and form a mutual respect for one another.
News coverage of the program caught the eye of producers of "The Drew Barrymore Show" who flew the two TU students to New York City last month so Barrymore could interview them about this unique program.
