Looking back at 2023-24

The 2023-24 school year was a historic one as a new administrative team took the reins of school operations. Dr. Andy Stewart’s first year as president began with a memorable coronation event in chapel, and it was filled with moments of getting to know our school and staff.

“This year has been a challenging one with multiple people moving into new roles inclusive of myself,” Dr. Stewart said. “Despite all people in each role having a lot of educational and administrative experience, sometimes the best teacher is to simply spend time in the role and experience the ups and downs and then learn from them."

He also commented on successful moments of the year in different fine art and athletic programs across campus, and he praised performances and projects our students have created.

“In addition to the phenomenal concerts and drama productions, our athletic performances this year regardless of the outcomes this weekend have been exceptional given the size of our school and the amount of success we have achieved,” he said.

Dr. Stewart handed his former role as the secondary campus principal to Mrs. Custer. As our former guidance counselor, she had a year to learn about secondary campus life before taking over as principal this year. She’s been an involved supporter of all student activities, including The Pony Press.

“I want to extend my thanks to the Pony Press for their outstanding contributions throughout this school year!” Mrs. Custer said. “The dedication and creativity they've shown have significantly enriched our school culture. I'm eager to see what the next school year holds for Student Media.”

She also shared her feeling toward the student body’s academic prowess as well as her hopes for next year.

“This year has been filled with wonderful moments — from academic achievements to triumphs in fine arts and athletics,” she said. “I look forward to what the 2024-25 school year will bring, and I am confident that we will experience another fantastic year together. I am also grateful for our remarkable student body. Your enthusiasm and spirit make coming to school each day a joy! I hope that everyone has an enjoyable summer. Each of you will be in my prayers until our return in August.”
