Accessibility improvements often benefit everyone, a concept known as the curb cut effect. The following links provide valuable resources on accessibility, underscoring how inclusive practices not only support students with specific needs but enhance the overall learning experience for everyone!

Familiarize Yourself with Various Disabilities: Recognize different types of disabilities, such as visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, and language, speech, and communication disabilities and learn specific characteristics and their accommodation strategies to better support your students.
- Follow Guidelines for Academic Accommodations

The effective practices of guidelines include, but not limited to, adding a syllabus statement on accessing campus disability services and consulting the Disability and Accessibility Services (DAS) office on basic and complex accommodation needs.
- Common accommodations also include extended test times, deadline extensions, note-taking support, and other adjustments that support inclusive learning environments.
- Make Your Classrooms and Materials More Accessible
- Visit your classroom before the semester begins to identify potential barriers and ensure readiness to support all students as needed.

Ensure online materials are accessible, enabling all students to prepare effectively. Simple improvement (e.g., use descriptive links to indicate what will open, rather than just saying “click here”) can make a significant difference in students’ access and engagement. Keep an eye out for support from the Hub and Digital Education including workshops and asynchronous resources. Or make an appointment with me to talk over accessibility strategies for your courses.

Crafting Stories That Sing: A Masterclass in Empathy, Performance, and Discover with Denmo Ibrahim
This masterclass offers an immersive exploration of storytelling through testimony, found images, performance, and lived experience. Participants will discover what makes a story resonate, explore the narratives that captivate us, and stand in the vulnerability of truth and fiction. Each participant will craft a 10-minute piece—a start, middle, or end of something larger. Together, we will develop and refine these works in class, leading to a final staged reading of new stories. This masterclass builds empathy, sharpens creative instincts, and helps stories come alive—for both the actor and the audience.
No experience required. Open to faculty and students.
