There’s a lot to love about February. We observe special occasions: Valentine’s Day, Presidents Day, and even National Chocolate Lovers Month. As for activities, RV travel sits at the top of the list. RVing opens up a big ol’ world of fun, freedom, and flexibility. We can bring our pets along, get away from it all (or most of it), and not have to deal with all the “stuff” yet still have the comforts of home.
As you journey down the road, Family RV Association will be your guide. The benefits, events, and educational resources provided with your membership are priceless. We’ve got a lot to share each and every month of the year.
What’s not to love about that?

Practice the Art of RV Harmony
As RVers know, spending time on the road with a partner requires some give and take. After all, your shared space is limited to several hundred square feet. These suggestions may help you coexist peacefully.
Date night. Alter your routine with a special evening. Spruce up your RV dining space with a tablecloth, candle, or vase of flowers. Enjoy a nice meal, whether you prepare it yourself or bring in restaurant takeout (a great way to sample the local cuisine). Turn on the music. And talk! Watch a movie together. Take a stroll outside under the stars. Joel and Deb, full-time RVers from Chasing Our Sunshine, expand the date night discussion on the FRVAdventure blog.
Teamwork makes the RV dream work. You’ll be more productive if you work together. Plan RV chores strategically. Maybe tackle one task a day to keep order and lower stress. Collaboration helps, whether it’s sharing laundry duties, planning tomorrow’s itinerary, etc.

Schedule boundaries. Designate RV zones for specific activities and reserve times to use them. For example, if one person needs the dining table for work, let them have that spot each morning. If an occupant needs quiet time to recharge, designate the bedroom as their sanctuary each afternoon. Physical distance away from the RV, and each other, is also beneficial. Make plans separately to exercise, run errands, or visit a friend.
Ground rules. Blogger Emily McGowan wrote about sharing a small space with her husband during the pandemic. To communicate more constructively, she suggests stripping words like “always” and “never” from conversations. “You always leave your dirty cups around the RV” might become “Can you please put your cups in the sink when you’re done with them?”
Make your space joyful. Another gem from Emily: It’s not the size of your space that matters; it’s how happy you are when you’re in it. “Fill your space with pets or music or friends or solitude — whatever it takes so that when you cross the threshold into your little abode, you feel at home.”

A Sweet Month!
The calendar tells us February is the shortest month. But sometimes it feels like it’s the longest. The excitement of the holidays has faded. The dark days and the dreary weather that February tends to bring may make it seem like the month will never end.
This year, let’s shed the winter doldrums and make February a sweet month!
How? By hosting a Valentine’s Day celebration for your friends or family. It’s likely others could use a pick-me-up about now, too. You can do this whether you’re at a campground in a warm climate surrounded by other RVers or are like us and hibernating at home in our “sticks and bricks.”
One fun idea for a party is to create a Valentine’s Day charcuterie board. You can make it sweet or savory — or, better yet, a combination of the two. For inspiration, check out the creations from Elizabeth at Pine Cones & Acorns and Marie at Celebration Generation.
If you follow through on this idea, we’d LOVE to see your photos! Send them to editor@fmca.com.
