Action Required: New SiteImprove Policy for Review |
In case you missed it, the entity formerly known as the "Career Center" underwent a few important changes:
|
Why do you need to know this? Well, most A&S websites have language about the "Career Center" along with links to it. So, the web team and I worked to set up a quick policy in SiteImprove to help y'all track down this now-outdated information. When you log in to SiteImprove, you'll find a new policy towards the bottom of the page titled, "Career Center Name and URL Change." This policy will list all instances of the outdated links to the center's website. When working through the policy, just make sure to update both the center's name and the center's url.
|
If you have any issues accessing the SiteImprove dashboard or working through this policy, check out the link below and reach out to me (schaeffner@wustl.edu) with any questions that emerge.

Reminder: Request Your New Analytics Dashboard |
SiteImprove: Web Analytics Access Has Expired |
I forewarned y'all about this in last month's newsletter, but now it's official: SiteImprove no longer provides us with web analytics such as page views, user counts, or other metrics related to website traffic. However, we will still retain other important features of SiteImprove, such as the feature that tracks broken links and the policy creator.
|
New Web Analytics Dashboards Still Available Upon Request! |
We created a replacement dashboard that leverages web data collected by Google Analytics, including metrics related to page views, sessions, users, user devices, and user sources. You can preview what that dashboard looks like below. The data in that sample dashboard pertains to the main A&S website (artsci.washu.edu), but we can recreate the same dashboard and apply it to your website upon request. If you're interested, it's never too late to fill out the webform linked below!

Reminder: Update Faculty + Staff Listings on Your Website |
As I've previously mentioned in these newsletters, faculty pages make up a significant portion of our web traffic. So, it's important to make sure that these pages stay up-to-date! Summer is great time to work with your department/program to determine:
|
- Are there any faculty/staff members leaving the department? They will likely need their profiles un-published.
- Are there any faculty/staff members who are joining the department? They will likely need their profiles created or imported from another A&S website.
-
Are there any faculty/staff members who are changing roles in the department? If so, they will need their existing profiles updated.
|
While you're working on this, you might keep the guidelines for drafting profile pages (found below) on hand!
|
Obtaining New Headshot Photos for Profile Pages |
In the process of updating people pages, you may discover the need for new headshots for faculty/staff profiles. This will likely be the case for new hires, but you may also find there are staff members whose profiles are outdated and who also need new headshots.
Below, you can find a guide to optimizing your headshot photographs, alongside a form for requesting headshots to be taken by A&S MarComm's Senior Multimedia Designer, Sean Garcia.
Also: new faculty hires should be on the lookout for the opportunity to get their headshots taken at the new faculty orientation session that's held at the start of the Fall semester!
