Students for Sustainability has organized several events today in celebration of Earth Day. Events will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in theđOak Grove, featuring informational tables and displays. All events are free and open to all.
|

âOur Earth Day event centers on connecting students to clubs and community organizations with a sustainability, environmental, equity, and or community service focus,â Students for Sustainability Club President Samantha Ryan said.
âWe will be offering raffle tickets to students who interact with five different campus or community organizations.â

- At 10:30 a.m., Dana Driscoll  will present âSpring Foraging as a Sustainable Practice: Plant Walk and Cooking Demonstration.â The workshop will show participants how to identify abundant spring greens and forage them sustainably, ethically, and safely. After a short foraging excursion on campus, participants will learn how to prepare spring greens with a hands-on cooking demonstration.Â

At 1:00 p.m., Sara King, president of the Friends of Whites Woods organization, will offer remarks on federal-level action toward timbering the remaining old growth, particularly in west coast national forests, including Alaska (the Tongass).
- At 2:30 p.m., Garrett Milnes from the Indiana Borough Council will discuss politics and sustainability.

New this year is an âupcycleâ T-shirt printing station. Students for Sustainability is working with the IUP Graphic Design Student Association to offer a design for printing on clothing; the design is free for any clothing brought to the event.

From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Navigators will offer an opportunity for people to decorate pots and to pot succulent plants on đFisher Patio.

This yearâs Chalk the Walk will take place on Wednesday, April 29, from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Use the sidewalk as your canvas in the đOak Grove! Is there something you want to express, question, or share with others? Weâll provide the chalk (and cash prizes), you bring the creativity.
Awards are given for clear communication of an idea, and all registered IUP students are eligible. Free T-shirts will be provided for all participants.
Chalk the Walk is sponsored by the National Art Education Association, the Graphic Design Student Association, the IUP Office of Marketing and Communications, the IUP Student Cooperative, the Lively Arts, and the College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs.

Following Chalk the Walk on April 29, join us from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. for Picnic in the Grove, a family-friendly event open to the Indiana community. Enjoy food trucks, a bounce house, coloring sheets, and more as we spend a fun evening in the đOak Grove celebrating IUPâs 150th anniversary.
