Business Name Search Tool |
Prior to registering, business owners should check the PA Department of State’s Business Filing Services website to check if their desired business name is available. If any business entities, regardless of structure or for profit/non-profit status, appear in the search results, the name is typically not available.
All registered business/non-profit entities — except fictitious names and general partnerships — are required to file an Annual Report.
Starting this year, if you do not file an annual report for three consecutive years, the business will be administratively closed without penalty. Â
The annual reporting filing dates starting in 2026 are as follows:
- June 30: Corporations (both business and nonprofit)
- September 30: LLCs (domestic and foreign)
- December 31: LPs, LLPs, Business Trusts, and Professional Associations
