Innovation Scholar Mehmet Deniz Birlikci Becomes a 2024 Neo Scholar

Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) student and 2022-24 Innovation Scholar Mehmet Deniz Birlikci has been selected as a 2024 Neo Scholar. Deniz is among 32 exceptional CS students, including CMU SCS student David Krajewski, that will participate as a Neo Scholar, which includes a year-long program of events, trips and mentorship—as well as long-term membership in the community. This culminates a 6-month process which began in May.

Fluid Realty: High-Resolution, Untethered Haptic Gloves Unveil New Device

| Spun out of the Future Interfaces Group at Carnegie Mellon University—2023 VentureBridge startup Fluid Reality, co-founded by Joe Mullenbach, recently unveiled their new device, and hopes to offer a completely new approach to providing realistic haptic sensations for AR/VR environments. The CMU research team includes Vivian Shen (CMU Robotics Ph.D. student and Swartz Fellow), Tucker Rae-Grant, Joe Mullenbach, Chris Harrison and Craig Shultz. Watch the video.

CMU Design Student Christina Yang Named a 2023-2025 Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellow
Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design is proud to announce that Christina (Yawen) Yang (MDes '25) has been named a 2023-2025 James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellow.
Christina is an award-winning human-centred technology designer and a Master's candidate in Design for Interactions at CMU. Beyond the academic field, she boasts a decade-long commitment to the intricate art of photography, particularly in creative lighting applications. This dedication has enabled collaborations with industry giants like Sony Music, PepsiCo and PurplePearl Magazine. She positions herself amidst the juncture where technology and creativity converge. Her goal is to design an innovative and transformative solution that elevates the art and science of illumination in photography.

Thursday, Nov 15 - 6:00-7:30pm, Duquesne University PDMA Pitch Competition Students representing Pitt, CMU, Robert Morris, Chatham and Duquesne will go head-to-head in this year’s PDMA Pitch Competition.
