Longchenpa (1308–1364) was a major teacher in the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Along with Sakya Pandita and Je Tsongkhapa, he is commonly recognized as one of the three main manifestations of Manjushri to have taught in Central Tibet. His major work is the Seven Treasures, which encapsulates the previous 600 years of
Buddhist thought in Tibet. Longchenpa was a critical link in the exoteric and esoteric transmission of the Dzogchen teachings. He was Abbot of Samye, one of Tibet’s most important monasteries and the first Buddhist monastery established in the Himalayas, but spent most of his life traveling or in retreat.
* NOTE * Heart Sutra practice will not be held on Wed. Feb. 8th due to the Longchenpa Anniversary practice.

Calm Abiding Meditation Practice
Every Sunday at 10 AM
This is a practice in calming the mind through shamatha meditation, or “peaceful abiding.” Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche says, “It is the most important thing we can do. Through peaceful abiding, we learn to rest fearlessly in our natural state.” These instructions guide us in the ancient technique to reveal the true nature of mind, wherein lies peace and happiness. What could be more needed and helpful in our lives today?
We hope you will join us.
Heart Sutra Practices (ongoing)
Wednesdays, 7 PM at PBDC and
Saturdays, 10 AM at Pema Ling
see locations below
“The extent of joy in your heart and the joy you bring to others will always be dependent upon the extent to which your mind is motivated by loving-kindness and compassion. This is the point of view shared by all human beings, not just dharma practitioners. It is the most important standard by which we all judge one another. It is the essential practice of dharma as taught by the Buddhas. Compassion and loving-kindness, based upon emptiness, that is the condensed heart practice of the Prajnaparamita.”
Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche
Dharma Book Discussion
Sundays 11:30 AM PBDC

It has been kept close to the heart and actualized by many practitioners across the centuries in India and Tibet. The main topic is how to be a good, decent, and responsible person in samsara. These principles are important and valuable to anyone, no matter where they live or what they believe."
