Academic Affairs Strategic Planning: Progress and Future Steps |
Strategic planning for Academic Affairs is well underway. Colleges, units, centers, and offices across the division have been engaged in conversations around key strategic questions, including those related to teaching and learning, student success, research, scholarship, and creative activities.
To help bring sense of the extensive input gathered from these planning sessions, four GVSU faculty members with expertise in qualitative research have been selected to analyze data and identify emerging themes and priorities. We are excited to welcome Dr. Leifa Mayers (Honors), Dr. Adeline Borti (English), Dr. Richard Besel (Communications), and Dr. Brett Crawford (Management) to this important work.
The qualitative analysis phase will take place into early June, with writing and synthesis happening throughout June and into July. Academic Affairs personnel (e.g., deans, unit heads) in summer will offer early feedback as early drafts evolve with the process becoming iterative. Provost Drake will introduce a draft of the Academic Affairs Strategic Plan during the college opening meetings in August. The iterative process will continue using feedback from faculty and staff with the finalized plan for Academic Affairs released as the fall semester ends.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. Your voices are helping shape the future of Academic Affairs at GVSU.
