National AI Literacy Day Makes Its Mark

What does "AI literacy" mean, and how do we teach it across disciplines?

On March 28, students and faculty from across Vanderbilt gathered to celebrate the university’s first National AI Literacy Day, sponsored by and featuring members of LIVE. The event opened with a talk from Sarah Burriss (EngageAI Institute) on different visions of "AI literacy" and why it matters. A panel of faculty from Peabody and Computer Science—moderated by Emily Pendergrass—explored how AI literacy takes shape across disciplines including teacher preparation, computer science, writing, and the learning sciences.

Participants then reflected on their own work and collaborated to design posters illustrating what AI literacy means in their contexts. These will soon be published and shared across campus and with K-12 teachers.
