Summer 2026

Kansas City and the World Cup

It has been a truly memorable summer in Kansas City as we’ve welcomed the world to our hometown!

The World Cup may be coming to a close, but the connections and celebrations shared with our global community will continue to have a lasting impact.

To commemorate Kansas City’s time being at the heart of the World Cup’s host cities, BNIM is sharing a series of architecturally-inspired soccer scarves featuring some of Kansas City’s most beloved spaces that we have had the honor of helping shape over the past several decades.

Explore the design inspiration and concepts behind BNIM's soccer scarves and the stories of these iconic Kansas City spaces.

BNIM participates in KC Global Design's Educators Tour and Share the KC Love Intern Event

BNIM partnered with KC Global Design and DRAW Architecture on the second annual KC Global Design Educators Tour. The event welcomed Louise Harpman, Professor of Architecture, Urban Design and Sustainability at New York University, and Paola Sanguinetti, Director of The Design School at Arizona State University and External Board Member on BNIM's ESOP Board of Directors.

We were also excited to take part in KC Global Design's Share the KC Love event that hosted over 200 interns from across the KC metro area to learn about Kansas City's AEC community. BNIM designer Hannah Gray Taylor moderated the event’s “KC 101” panel discussion.

BNIM and the KC Streetcar

BNIM has long been advocating and planning for Kansas City, especially the urban core, from our work on the FOCUS Plan of the late 1990s to Greater Downtown Area Development Plan of the early 2000s to the KC Streetcar Expansion.

In a new blog post, Steve McDowell reflects on the history and impact of the KC Streetcar and how it has been integrated into the urban fabric of our community. We witnessed this impact most recently with the KC Streetcar transporting over 600,000 passenger trips as Kansas City welcomed World Cup visitors during the month of June, according to the KC Streetcar Authority.
