Generative AI for Creative Writing Learning Community

Vanderbilt Library's Digital Lab will be facilitating a Generative AI for Creative Writing learning community this semester. This group will engage in discussions about the ethics of generative AI in creative spaces,

how to use iterative prompt engineering so AI is a collaborative tool, AI’s place in assisting an artist’s workflow, exploring how good AI is at creating “quality” art (music, literature, images, etc.), and more.

The group is open to faculty, staff, and students from a variety of disciplines who have interest in engaging in the creative writing process and thinking through ways to incorporate technology to help with the writing process. The first meeting will be held Wednesday, January 29th, 2-3pm in the Central Library.

If you are interested in attending a session or joing the community, please fill out the interest form linked below. Contact Cazembe Kennedy at cazembe.kennedy@vanderbilt.edu with any questions.

Navigating Artificial Intelligence in Postsecondary Ed: Building Capacity for the Road Ahead

The Office of Educational Technology have just released new guidance on using AI for postsecondary education. The brief aims to support institution leaders who are engaged in a cross-cutting team that is overseeing the implementation of AI at their institution. Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming numerous institutional functions, including admissions, enrollment, academic advising, and learning

environments. In this context, postsecondary institutions have a dual role: (1) to strategically leverage AI to help catalyze greater access and success into postsecondary education for all students, especially those from historically underserved groups; and (2) to prepare postsecondary students for the evolving career landscape shaped by AI-driven innovation. Learn more in the report linked below.

Join the Vanderbilt Interaction Analysis Lab This Semester

Calling all Peabody students and faculty - are you interested in collecting and/or analyzing human interactions in video data? Examining the ethics of recording people on video or using video cameras in qualitative research? Connecting with an interdisciplinary group of scholars and community members, who are at all stages in their careers and join us weekly from over 8 states and 3 countries?

Then Vanderbilt’s Interaction Analysis Lab (VIAL) might be for you! VIAL is a student-run lab that has met since 2021 to examine video data and build community around learning, loving, and innovating the method of interaction analysis.

VIAL lab meetings will be every Friday this semester from 12-2pm in the Sony Building, Room A2010. Can’t make it in person? No worries, they are hybrid and have a zoom link for you to join. Reach out to Candice at Candice.love@vanderbilt.edu to get more information or join the VIAL email list.
