Celebrating Larner’s First Annual Blood Drive
The Larner College of Medicine, in collaboration with the American Red Cross, hosted its first annual blood drive on Wednesday, June 21, in the Larner Classroom. More than 60 members of the Larner community donated blood.
Williams Named Assistant Dean for Admissions
Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education Christa Zehle, M.D., has announced the appointment of Anthony Williams, M.D., as assistant dean for admissions. In this role, Dr. Williams will provide leadership support for the recruitment and selection of Larner College of Medicine medical students.
UVM’s 10th Biennial Stem Cells Conference
Recognized as a premier gathering of the world’s leading regenerative medicine researchers, the 10th biennial Stem Cells, Cell Therapies, and Bioengineering in Lung Biology and Diseases Conference captivated attendees from July 17–20.
On July 1, Cynthia Forehand, Ph.D., UVM Graduate College dean and professor of neurological sciences, retired from a decades-long career in neuroscience and more than 35 years of service as a biomedical scientist, educator, mentor, and leader at UVM.

Class of 2025 medical students Lindsay Aldrich, Jack Braidt, John Burke, Ryan Kelly, Kelly Knight, Elizabeth O’Neill, Virginia Ramirez, and Gabriela Sarriera-Valentin have been selected to receive the 2023 Excellence in Public Health Award from the U.S. Public Health Service Physician Professional Advisory Committee of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service.
Amanda Broder, conference and member event coordinator for the Larner College of Medicine’s Teaching Academy, was recently recognized by the UVM Staff Council. Broder, who co-chaired the Staff Council’s Community Engagement Committee, was named Outstanding Community Engagement Committee Member of the Year.
