Provide Your Input On IDOT’s Lincoln Avenue Project
|
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is planning roadway and safety improvements for Lincoln Avenue, from Niles Center Road to Howard Street.
Proposed improvements were presented at a public meeting on July 15 and are detailed on IDOT’s project website. Plans include the conversion of the existing four-lane roadway into a three-lane road with on-street bike lanes and a two-way left-turn lane.

Reminder: Water Main Assessment Work Begins this Week
|
Starting Wednesday, the Village and contractor Joel Kennedy Constructing will assess water transmission mains at two locations within the Village’s water system:
|
-
Church Street and East Prairie Road
- Northshore Sculpture Park (McCormick Boulevard south of Golf Road)
|
Why it matters: These locations were identified and selected for assessment because of their similarity to the water transmission main infrastructure that failed in February, which occurred at a joint where the pipeline changes direction. The Village’s assessment will result in the proactive replacement of existing water main, fittings and restraints at both locations.
What to know:
|
- No water service interruptions are expected
- All work is expected to wrap by August 15
- East Prairie Road will be temporarily closed to through traffic between Golf Road and Church Street (local access only)
|
Thank you for your patience during this critical infrastructure project.
|
Always lock your vehicle and remove or hide valuables.
|
Prevent Motor Vehicle Burglaries
|
The Skokie Police Department reminds residents to stay alert and take proactive steps to help prevent vehicle burglaries:
|
-
Always lock your vehicle, even if it’s parked in your driveway, garage or in front of your home.
- Remove or hide valuables, including purses, keys, wallets, electronics, shopping bags, change, garage door openers or anything that may attract attention.
- Never leave a firearm in an unattended vehicle.
-
Park in well-lit, visible areas. Motion-sensor lighting and security cameras can act as a deterrent.
- Close all windows, sunroofs and convertible tops.
- Stay alert to your surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activity.
-
Call 911 if you observe someone unlawfully entering your vehicle. Do not approach or confront them.
- File a police report if you are a victim of a vehicle burglary to help Skokie Police track crime patterns and apprehend those responsible.
