Warhawks shine in the State Capitol

UW-Whitewater students, faculty, and staff engaged with state legislators in Madison last week at Research in the Rotunda, a showcase of undergraduate research by students enrolled at the Universities of Wisconsin. The annual event is a celebration of how collaboration and innovation by UW institutions fuels the state’s economy and solves real-world challenges.

Share your dining feedback 

Warhawk Dining invites you to share your feedback about campus dining during individual focus group sessions scheduled for this Wednesday-Thursday, March 18-19, in the University Center. Each participant receives $25 in Dining Dollars for their valued input.

Warhawks create "DanceScapes '26"

A total of 29 UW-Whitewater students are participating in "DanceScapes '26." Performances continue this Tuesday-Thursday, March 17-19, at the Barnett Theatre inside the Greenhill Center of the Arts.

Students recognized at state broadcasters forum 

A total of 12 students were recognized as award winners at the 2026 Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA) Student Forum on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Josh Jacobi, a communication major from Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and award winner, covered the event with a video segment for UWW-TV News.

Safety students finish third at national competition

A team of six occupational safety students — including two enrolled in the online program — finished third at the 2026 Safety Olympics hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Feb. 26-27, 2026.

Kudos to UW-Whitewater faculty, staff, and students whose manuscript, “Procedure to Evaluate Artificial Intelligence (AI) Output for Educational and Clinical Tasks,” was published in the journal Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders. Authors included Lynn Gilbertson, professor of communicative disorders, Cody Busch, assistant professor of communicative disorders, Jon Spike, AI special assistant to the provost and teaching, learning, and technology manager, Kaitlin DeMoss, communicative disorders graduate assistant from Kenosha, and Jae Thompson, communication sciences and disorders graduate student from Hales Corners. Kudos to Andy Dahl, associate professor and chair of the Department of Marketing, who was recognized with a 2025 Outstanding Reviewer of the Year award by the Journal of Marketing Education.

Warhawks in the News

UW-Whitewater's Fiscal and Economic Research Center (FERC) has been selected as a key partner in the newly formed Wisconsin Fusion Energy Consortium, which just received a $778,000 Ignite Wisconsin grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). FERC will study supply chain availability of input parts manufacturers in the Midwest, especially Wisconsin, to see how they benefit economically. Elizabeth Thelen, executive director of the Whitewater University Innovation Center, played an integral role in securing FERC’s involvement. WEDC »

Paige Schmidt, a marketing major from Lake Geneva, was featured by the website Your Dressage as a competitor in para-equestrian dressage. Schmidt placed third at the U.S. para-dressage national championships. Paige Schmidt »

Did you know that the UW-Whitewater gymnastics team has won five national championships? The Warhawks seek a sixth title this Friday at the 2026 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship after placing second at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship/NCGA West Regional on March 7. April 17: Groundbreaking for Winther, Heide halls 

UW-Whitewater will officially break ground on the almost $90 million renovation of Winther Hall, home of the College of Education and Professional Studies, and Heide Hall on Friday, April 17, outside of Winther Hall.
