Info session, Karl credentials, current and upcoming changes, and more.
It's been 1 month since we migrated to Karl, the new content management system (CMS). With your help, our team has been working hard to continue improving the new CMS. See below for details about the upcoming Karl info session, what we're working on, some changes we've already made, and more!

First post-launch Karl info session on Feb 27 at 3pm
SF.gov moved to Karl the CMS and launched a new design on January 21. Join us on Thursday, February 27 for a presentation and Q&A on:
- What we've changed since launch
- What we're working on next
| Last chance to take "Meet Karl" training
Credentialed SF.gov editors who need Karl permissions added to their accounts must complete the "Meet Karl" training by Monday, March 3. Otherwise, you will need to sign up as a new editor and retake the foundational trainings to get SF.gov credentials.
Sign in to Karl and take the training

| Become an SF.gov editor
If you've never worked on SF.gov and need credentials, sign up as a new editor and you will receive instructions on how to become an editor.

| News list pages are back
To find your department's news list page, add /news to the end of your Agency page URL. You can link to this page from any existing component on your Agency page. One idea is to add the link to the News list page in the Quick links section. The new design allows you to add 4 Quick links (previously 3) to your Agency page. News tiles are still in the works and expected in Q2.

| Content type labels removed on front end of pages
All pages used to display names of content types on the front end. We removed those labels from the following:
- About
- Agency
- Campaign
- Information
- Report
- Resource Collection
- Step by Step
- Transaction
| Meeting dates now show in the CMS
You can now see meeting dates in the editor dashboard. The date displays under the meeting title.
You can now add up to 20 accordions on Transactions
We increased the number of accordion items you can add to Transaction pages from 3 to 20.
News tiles on Agency pages expected to be back in Q2
News lists pages are back but we are still working on news tiles appearing on Agency pages. This work is on our calendar for Q2.
| Table of contents (TOC) on Report pages
The TOC will return to Report pages at some point, but we don't have an exact date for this right now. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this is causing. We're working hard to have this back ASAP.
| Manual human translation migrations ongoing
Our team manually migrated the human translations of high priority pages (English pages with 10,000 views or more in 2024) by launch. The remaining human translated pages are still being brought over. We appreciate your patience!
| Continuing to make SF.gov usable for all
Our work to continue to make SF.gov more accessible for all users includes:
- Improving the search results list view
- Updating videos so that transcripts always show
- Ensuring image ALT text is working as intended
- And more!
| Google Analytics is now configured
GA4 has been reconnected to SF.gov after having been disconnected at Karl launch. Existing Looker Studio dashboards aren't functional again just yet, but they will be very soon. We'll keep you posted!

Stretched images on Campaigns will be fixed later
Stretched images on Campaign pages will be fixed but we don't have a timeline right now. If you have Campaign pages with stretched images, you might decide to fix high priority ones and wait for our fix for the rest.

External links not working under Related in Campaigns
There is a bug causing external links not to show in the Related section of Campaign pages. We have added this to our to-do list and hope to have a solution soon.
Extra spacing in text fields of some content types
Some content types have extra spacing between lines in text sections. Thanks to your valuable feedback, our team is aware of how this is affecting your pages. We hope to have more info on when this will be resolved soon.
| Search is not working as expected right now
We know the search function is not returning expected results in many cases. Unfortunately, it's not an easy fix, so it's taking a while. We are hoping to get to a better long-term, more flexible solution quickly.
