Top Five Things to Know

From the Office of Provost Peggy Agouris

OFFICE OF THE PROVOST
WEEKLY MESSAGE ARCHIVE

Dear colleagues,

This year marks an exciting milestone for W&M academics. In the fall, the university will launch new undergraduate degrees in health careers as well as coastal and marine sciences. These new degree offerings exemplify W&M’s dedication to addressing societal needs through innovative academic programs. A heartfelt thank you to the many individuals whose dedication and vision helped bring these initiatives to life. The new programs will be instrumental in preparing students for meaningful careers that drive change while fostering a lifelong passion for learning and discovery.

Here are the top “5 Things to Know” this week:

  2. The Muscarelle Museum of Art is reopening after a two-year expansion project. On Saturday, February 8th, you’re invited to a Grand Opening Day with guided tours and other art activities. Learn more and register. Be sure to also check out this annotated list of spring 2025 events in art, dance, film, literature, music, and theatre at W&M.

  3. The recent release of China’s DeepSeek AI chatbot has generated significant international attention. Librarian Candice Benjes-Small is hosting a 30-minute Zoom session to explore DeepSeek possibilities and limitations this Wednesday, February 5th, at 3 p.m. Registration is now open.
