Nursery Care Update: On Sunday, May 25, professional nursery care will be provided in the newly-refurbished Linthicum Hall for the first time. We look forward to welcoming our youngest parishioners into the beautiful, safe spaces that have been designated for babies and toddlers. Following the 9:00 a.m. Eucharist, refreshments for all ages will be served in the C.Boyden Gray Auditorium.
Parish Office Closure: The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. There will be no public recitation of Morning Prayer.
Liturgical Music at Christ Church: The parish’s former organ, which served the liturgical and musical needs of Christ Church for more than 25 years, was removed from the nave and transported to its new home outside of Philadelphia on Monday, May 19. During the months of June and July, two new sound systems - speech reinforcement and acoustical enhancement - as well as a new organ will be installed. In the meantime, congregational singing will be led by a piano; the Choir of Christ Church will sing unaccompanied psalms and anthems. We thank you for your patience and spirit of flexibility as this exciting project unfolds. For more information, contact Organist and Choirmaster Thomas Smith.
Upcoming Funeral Liturgy: A funeral liturgy for longtime parishioner Anne Roulhac will take place on Tuesday, June 10, at 10:00 a.m., in Saint Mary’s Chapel at Washington National Cathedral. Your prayers and presence are requested.

Vacation Bible School: Children ages 3-11 are invited to join in a fun filled week, July 28 thru August 1, of growing in faith and friendship. Held at Christ Church and led by the Youth and Families Minister along with a team of dedicated camp counselors, children will explore the life and lessons of Jesus through play, Bible study, prayer, song, science, and more as they form and grow in friendship with each other and with God and all His creation. Daily activities will center on The Big Way of Love for Kids, following Jesus in the Episcopal tradition. Please feel free to invite your friends and neighbors to register too. To learn more or register, click here. Interested in helping out with VBS? Contact Youth and Families Minister, Chrissy Casey.
Bite-sized Bible Study: Join fellow parents of nursery and Sunday School-aged children for a team-led, 30-minute exploration of the Book of Psalms. The group gathers on Sundays, at 10:15 a.m. in the Memorial Room (Linthicum Hall / Third Floor). Nursery care for infants and toddlers, as well as supervised, age-appropriate activities for older children, will be provided this Sunday in the Nursery (1st floor, Linthicum Hall). For more information, contact parishioners Julia Ainsley, Megan Murton, or Matthew Fredericks.
Thursday Morning Bible Study: Parishioners of all ages and stages of life are invited to this fortnightly study of selected psalms, co-led by parishioners Ernest Clark, Virginia Mentz, and David Straut. Sessions will take place on Thursdays, May 22 and June 5, at 8:00 a.m., in Keith Hall. Preparation for discussions is beneficial, but not essential.
Seasoned Lunch Club: Are you age 65+ and interested in spending time with others who are in the same season of life? Then join us for a new series of “come as you are” luncheons intended to provide senior (seasoned) parishioners and members of the wider community with the opportunity for fellowship, food, and fun. The next luncheon will be held on Thursday, May 29, at 11:45 a.m., in Keith Hall. To register, click here. If you enjoy spending time with senior (seasoned) citizens, please consider volunteering to provide food, and/or to assist with set up, service, and clean up. For more information, contact Youth and Family Minister Chrissy Casey.
Saturday Night Supper: On Saturday, June 7, Christ Church parishioners will gather at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Georgetown to prepare a hot meal for roughly 70 neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. Set up begins at 4:00 p.m., dinner is served at 5:00 p.m., and clean up is completed by 6:15 p.m. Additional volunteers are needed, especially those who are able to provide meals. For more information, contact Youth and Family Minister Chrissy Casey. To sign up, click here.
Women’s Bible Study: All women of the parish and their guests are invited to participate in an exploration of the Book of Exodus, a captivating and poetic narrative that tells the story of God’s liberation of his people from slavery in Egypt and his gift of the law at Mount Sinai. The final session of the current series will take place on Tuesday, June 10, at 6:00 p.m., in the Memorial Room (Linthicum Hall / Third Floor). A year-end potluck celebration will be held on June 17 in the home of a Georgetown parishioner. Visitors and those interested in joining the group next year are most welcome. For more information, contact Deacon Tiffany Clark.
Altar Flowers: If you would like to make a contribution to help offset the cost of the flowers that will adorn the altar on a particular Sunday or feast day, contact the Parish Office. The Flower Guild accepts contributions in memory of the departed, in celebration of births, and in thanksgiving for the reception of Christian sacraments. Contributions marking private secular celebrations are welcome, but they will not be acknowledged in service leaflets or the Prayers of the People. In such cases, donors are encouraged to let loved ones know of their contribution with a greeting card. The suggested donation is $100.
Christ Church Career Connections: Conscious that many in the DC metro area may be between jobs, the clergy have revived a program that aims to connect job seekers with potential employers. Whether you’re job hunting or hiring, starting close to home might be a great option. To participate, send your resume and contact the Rector.
If you are looking for people or know of someone who is, we currently have people interested in the following areas; Grant Making, Philanthropic Advice, Non-Profit Management, Broadcast Journalist/ production, Media, Intl/ Gov affairs/ coms / public policy, National Security/ Crisis Management, HR, Project Management, Government Affairs/ Lobbying, Editing/Admin/Research/Writing, Paralegal or Legal Assistant, and IT.
