Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your engagement in our start-up meetings and your excitement for the draft Academic Affairs vision:

As we drive Grand Valley’s mission, we: Lead with intention. Collaborate with purpose. Create a lasting impact for generations to come.

At those meetings, I shared the adaptive Academic Affairs Strategic Framework that both informs and steers Reach Higher Together, while centering GVSU’s mission and prioritizing our people. Today, I’m pleased to launch the Strategic Framework website (www.gvsu.edu/aasf). There, you will find the draft vision, strategic priorities, and proposed moves and actions. I encourage you to learn more and share your perspectives.

How to Engage

Your voices are essential as we refine the framework and move toward implementation. Between now and October 15, you can participate in any of the following ways:

What Happens Next

Your feedback will guide revisions to the draft Strategic Framework, inform metrics, and shape implementation timelines. Our team will compile all feedback to improve the draft, align moves and actions, and create steps along with metrics that include baselines and targets. The final strategic plan will be available in December.

Implementation and activation will begin in Winter 2026, including the creation of implementation teams, clear accountability structures, regular check-ins, and a public dashboard to track progress.

Thank you for your dedication to our students and to this important shared work. I look forward to learning from your insights as, together, we co-create a future for Academic Affairs that is bold, strengths-based, and aligned with Grand Valley’s mission.

With appreciation,

Jennifer Drake, Ph.D.
