Hamilton's TELETYPE will open the 24-25 season!
|
Teletype, written by Wyat Hamilton, a 4th year NC State student in civil engineering, is the winner of the 2024 Creative Artist Award for theatre.
It’s autumn 1969 and a Charleston State Technical University journalism student decides to out campus fiscal mismanagement to the media. In the tumultuous academic year that follows, students and faculty wrestle not only with the challenges of the Vietnam War, the draft, the Kent State Massacre, but their own with the ethics of research, relationships, and obligations to themselves and their community.
"Teletype is a play about a lot of things and likewise inspired by many things. Perhaps the best summation is that it’s a play about loyalty. [At its foundation, Teletype] was inspired by the 2022-2023 academic year at NC State, with many tragedies that weighed heavy on students, and the institutional response that was found lacking. It is set in the 1969-1970 academic year due to the divisive nature of the times and challenges of the day. West Virginia was chosen because of the availability of information on student life and activities during the Vietnam War, mostly via a West Virginia University Library article on the topic. The injustices are based on real events, but the choices of the characters are a call to improve." — Wyat Hamilton

Tax laws are often complicated and navigating these rules can be daunting for small business owners, especially for creative entrepreneurs without a business background. This workshop will help provide individuals with some tax basics on federal income taxation to help them save money on taxes and avoid tax surprises at year end.
