Covenant Class • Fellowship Hall
Grace and the Law in the Old Testament
To many Christians, it seems like the Old Testament and New Testament describe different deities altogether: in the Old Testament, God seems angry, legalistic, judgmental, and vengeful, while the New Testament describes a loving, caring, and gracious God. But is this actually true? During our time together, we will explore the questions of God's anger and judgment, the role of the Law in both the Old Testament and the New, and the inescapable grace of God that is found throughout the story of God's people.

Please join us for a close study of Barbara Kingsolver's new Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Demon Copperhead. We will look closely at her Appalachian novel which delves carefully into some of the most consistent problems that continue to plague our culture: poverty, exploitation, addiction, and abuse. And despite the grim topics of the novel, we will consider the abiding possibilities of grace and redemption.

Westminster is starting a new weekday morning class the first week of October! We will start with a 14-week study of Daniel Migliore’s classic book, Faith Seeking Understanding.
This class will serve as a thorough introduction and investigation of Christian theology, with particular emphasis on the Reformed tradition. We will cover Christian doctrine, the relevance of faith in the 21st century, and what it means to live out our belief.
We are hoping to meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday mornings and will decide as a group what works best.
