Private No Strangers Allowed
by Vered Harris
How many times have we walked into a room of strangers and felt like this was the non-verbal message being sent to newcomers? The Rotary Four-Way Test sets the expectation that our club will be a place to “build goodwill and better friendships.” One of our goals for guests is that they experience:
Private? No! Strangers Allowed!
We see this at Club 29 meetings when we encounter the greeters at the front door, the badge scanners, the club member who hands a plate to the next person in line, the friendly welcome at a table of strangers, and the camaraderie in the room. For generations the leaders of our club have worked to build a culture where those who come through the door feel encouraged to come back and get involved.
I am one of the Rotarians who does not have perfect attendance, spends very little time outside of Tuesday afternoons thinking about Rotary, and yet I can see that the ethics of Rotary influence my worldview. On the one hand the Four-Way Test is consistent with the religious teachings I follow and therefore it makes sense that I see the test play out in my daily decisions. On the other hand, it is beneficial to be reminded through the Four-Way Test that one need not have an ethical religious tradition to choose to live within and build up a moral culture. READ MORE

Rotary Dues Increase - Jan. 1, 2023 - A Message from President Wes Milbourn
Fellow Rotarians:
At the Sept. 27 luncheon meeting, we shared some news about a conversation that began over two years ago. Prior to the pandemic, it was clear to our administration committee, budget committee, and board of officers and directors that a dues increase would be necessary for the club to maintain a balanced budget. With the arrival of the pandemic, we were able to delay that conversation. As we’ve seen a return to normal club operations, meetings, and service, we’ve also seen an increase in almost every expense of the club due to inflation and we were forced to revisit the conversation. At the recommendation of our administration and budget committees, the 2021-2022 board of officers and directors approved a dues increase of $15 per quarter, or $5 a month, effective January 1, 2023. Answer the Call of the Wild! - OnePledge 22-23 "Rotary Expedition Africa Playground"

Greeting Rotarians!
I am full of hope, enthusiasm, and optimism after visiting 24 out of our 34 clubs. Our club Presidents are doing amazing service projects with their club members, helping make their communities, districts, and the world a better place for us all to live. In fact, I find having a Rotary Club in your town is where people are going, to seek help. They know they will find a welcoming environment from Rotarians that will do whatever they can to lend a helping hand. And that is why I love being a Rotarian! READ MORE
